Monday, 14 May 2012. We had a very nice last holiday in the US. We took a day trip to the Southern Maryland Celtic Festival, and had the unusual experience of giving a Scottish country dancing demonstration with no music! Today we have the logistical nightmare of selling both cars and then getting a lift with a friend to the car rental place, along with the child seats; meanwhile another friend is collecting the boys from nursery. Assembling a selection of old and new family recipes, Katie this year masterminded the production not only of a Christmas cake but also two Christmas puddings and more than one batch of home-made mince pies (shop-bought pastry, but mincemeat made from scratch).
