Notes from a human pin cushion - in Singapore
http://www.theunexpectedtopic.com/notes-from-a-human-pin-cushion-in-singapore
Notes from a human pin cushion - in Singapore. Tuesday, March 04, 2014. So, I had my 3rd chemotherapy session last Thursday. 3 down, 5 to go. I was a bit anxious about my veins collapsing before the session. This is because when I felt the skin on my right arm it felt tender. Urgh! More on this later. By the way - am in Singapore right now. My good friend Abbie is here as well. Her mom lives here and I am staying with them and Abbie and I are travelling back together next week to London. You may be asking.

2nd down - 6 to go - and this post was written in France. Saturday, February 15, 2014. So I had my 2nd chemotherapy last week, Thursday 6th of February. You may not know this, but initially when I first heard I had to go through Chemo I understood it was going to be 6 sessions. Then I heard 8 and I admit, it didn't thrill me - it feels like 8 is a lot. Well - now there are 6! I feel I am just at the very beginning of this, but really it will all be done in June! You won't even notice the time going by.
Bringing new meaning to the 11th hour - the story of chemo number 5
http://www.theunexpectedtopic.com/11th-hour
Bringing new meaning to the 11th hour - the story of chemo number 5. Friday, May 09, 2014. Skip to the end! On the 10th April, I arrived at 8:30am ready for the first of the new regime called Docetaxol - my 5th chemo (out of 8). This one is meant to be a lot quicker than FEC because it's one drug - not three. So in theory, I should have been out within 4 hours. The point of the port. But things weren't quite working. they couldn't get any blood out. The machine next to me (the one that goes "ping! So aft...

One week later from first chemotherapy session - and how am I feeling. Friday, January 24, 2014. It's been a "normal week". Am feeling absolutely fine. Was a bit tired on Monday and Tuesday. But now feel full of energy! Hope this is how it is always. People tell me that the chemotherapy takes it's toll, and every time, it gets a bit harder as…. 1 day after first chemo (and what happened yesterday). Friday, January 17, 2014. My first chemotherapy transfusion day is done! Friday, January 17, 2014. Tomorrow...
A foreign object in my body - and reaching the halfway mark
http://www.theunexpectedtopic.com/a-foreign-object-in-my-body-and-reaching-the-halfway-mark
A foreign object in my body - and reaching the halfway mark. Sunday, April 06, 2014. I have waited to write this as after the double whammy (surgery on a Thursday, chemo on the Friday) I felt slightly less than fantastic for a little while. I over optimistically thought the surgery bit would be "no big deal" but in actual fact it was a bit of a bigger deal. But not really in the grand scheme of things. Here's a bandage shot if you like medical stuff. This was a mild inconvenience, and meant that instead ...

Make My Blog

Possibly not your typical Snowbizz Family Ski Holiday. I am writing this from Puy-St-Vincent, a ski resort in France – where I am on a family holiday courtesy of Snowbizz – the family ski specialists. How we heard about this little resort. I met Wendy and Elodie from Snowbizz. The answer was yes (of course! We had done one family ski trip to Austria last year, and it seems we want to make it an annual tradition! And even in spite of my “health news”. Now, we have spent all week here at Puy-St-Vincent, sk...

The Unexpected Twists and Turns
The Unexpected Twists and Turns. An inquisitive look at our urban planet. Follow me on Twitter. Here's a review I wrote for the Summer 2014 issue of the Montreal Review of Books. Because the following graphic novel was pretty slim, I spent some time at the public library reading other works by Jimmy Beaulieu. He definitely dares to be an innovator, and I'm sure that there are people "borrowing" some of his unique ideas. I particularly enjoyed his take on body image, both male and female. Showcased Beauli...

Is this the end? The post chemo, post radiotherapy post. Saturday, August 09, 2014. I haven't written in a while. For many reasons. The number one reason was (drumroll please.) I don't think the end of this story is "that interesting". But since the number one reason I have been writing this blog is because I want to answer the question "How are you….
