The 1930’s saw the discovery of gold in and around Kenogomisis Lake and with the creation of the Little Long Lac mine in 1932 lead to n influx of people and equipment via the only way into the area – The railroad. By the late 1940’s, ten gold producing mines were in operation around what became Geraldton in 1937.
