The View from a Paper Boat: Polite ghosts fading quickly

http://www.theviewfromapaperboat.blogspot.com/2009/06/polite-ghosts-fading-quickly.html

The View from a Paper Boat. Saturday, June 6, 2009. Polite ghosts fading quickly. School of Seven Bells was not even the headlining act at the Troubadour that night and yet the venue was packed to the brim. The crowd seemed mesmerized by the environment that these three musicians created. From the swaying chant of "Iamundernodisguise" to the pop infused "Half Asleep" it is difficult not to enjoy the breeze as you tumble down the rabbit hole. School of Seven Bells. The View from a Paper Boat. Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Her music is layered with sweet melodies and sober realities. She is a singer songwriter which may instantly give you a picture of just another girl on stage with an acoustic guitar and a prayer, but once the song starts to emerge from Jesca Hoop, all conventions of her genre classification melt away. Have a fun yet quirky pop sensibility and then as soon as you think you have her pegged she changes pace with songs such as Enemy. Love is All We Have.

The View from a Paper Boat. Thursday, March 6, 2008. Funkier Than a Mosquito's Tweeter. The song starts to resemble something of an anthem for the independent woman of the 21st century. Funkier Than A Mosquitos Tweeter (Jazzeems All Styles Remix) - Nina Simone. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music. The View from a Paper Boat: 80's songs still haunting the present

http://www.theviewfromapaperboat.blogspot.com/2009/05/80s-songs-still-haunting-present.html

The View from a Paper Boat. Monday, May 4, 2009. 80's songs still haunting the present. A couple recent covers that have sparked my attention are Greg Laswell's cover of Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Want to Have Fun. And Kat Edmonson's cover of The Cure's Just Like. But Kat's cover also has a place in my music library (particularly in the chill- out playlists). Greg Laswell's cover of Girls Just Want to Have Fun. There are countless examples of covers gone wrong and covers 'done well.' I invite you to p...

The combination of beautiful weather, car culture and a love for loud music is the inspiration for this series I like to call 'Windows down, volume up." Sometimes there are just songs or albums that demand this series of conditions in order for maximum enjoyment. The first induction to this series is the song Magic. And Back of the Van. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Out of the Past (1947). What we also got is a pretty god damned labyrinthine story that nearly lost me at about the halfway point which is one of the reasons I just gave up and started paying attention to all the smoking going on. What is it with these noirs (film term I learned on the internet) that strive for befuddlement as an emotion? Well, I haven't seen too many noirs to be honest. Just this and The Big Sleep. Off the top of my head). The Big Sleep. Monday, June 28, 2010.

Thursday, April 29, 2010. Search for the Beast (1997). This movie is such a piece of shit that I couldn't find a poster for it anywhere. Or, DVD artwork for that matter. Apparently, it's only available as part of a Big Foot compilation. The best I could come up with is the above screen shot I found using google. That's the beast. It's intended as a genuine beast. Unlike Shriek of the Mutilated. Basically, what we got here is a lose remake of Aliens. The executive's son and girlfriend) . I guess they clim...

When Garrett shoots himself in a mirror after killing the Kid. Sorry, for the spoiler there. Garrett shoots, and kills, Bill the Kid. I hope you've already seen the movie. the view from erica

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. The days are long but the years are short. Somehow it's true that a child that started out at 8 pounds and 11 ounces is now 40 pounds and technically could ride in a booster with a seat belt. I can hardly believe it, but the evidence all points towards this: our oldest is four years old. Four is big enough for the trike parade. Four is (finally) mustering the courage to sing in the school program. Four is cleaning up nice but changing into play clothes as soon as possible.
