The Vintage Bobbin

Tuesday, 3 June 2014. Here are my latest felt collages. I love Paris so I've done a French themed one. And this is my interpretation of a local National Trust site - Wallington Hall. Helen at The Vintage Bobbin. Thursday, 24 April 2014. So last week I decided to tidy up my sewing room! I've invested in a couple of new tables from Ikea to use as a work surface and I got some pink floral fabric from Dunelm Mill to make some curtains to hide the mess under the desks and a tablecloth to cover my fabric boxes.

The Vintage Bobbin: Feeling Foxy?

http://www.thevintagebobbin.co.uk/2014/03/feeling-foxy.html

Tuesday, 4 March 2014. Isn't this fabric just fab? I found it in my local fabric store for just £7.50/m. I've treated myself to a couple of metres, which I'm planning to make into a skirt using this A-line pattern. From Burdastyle. Possibly a bit thin to wear right now, but it'll be perfect for summer. If foxes are your thing, there's lots of choice out there - here's a round-up of my favourites. Helen at The Vintage Bobbin. 4 March 2014 at 13:27. Beth of The Linen Cat. 10 March 2014 at 11:11.

The Vintage Bobbin: Sewing Bee inspiration

http://www.thevintagebobbin.co.uk/2014/03/sewing-bee-inspiration.html

Tuesday, 25 March 2014. So like almost everyone else I've been hooked on the new season the The Great British Sewing Bee. How inspirational? I particularly enjoy the middle challenge, where they're given an existing garment and have to use their own creativity to create something new. I think I like it so much because I know I'd be rubbish at it! But it has prompted me to try to think outside the box and look at how I can reuse existing garments and fabrics that I have in my stash. 25 March 2014 at 13:15.

The Vintage Bobbin: Seaham sea glass

http://www.thevintagebobbin.co.uk/2014/04/seaham-sea-glass.html

Tuesday, 22 April 2014. We've been trying to make the most of the Easter holidays, especially as we seem to have some good weather. Long may it last! One of my favourite things to do is to go to the beach. We have so many lovely beaches here in the North East and when I read a while ago on the Silverpebble blog. That Seaham, which is about 15 miles away, is a great place to hunt for sea glass, I knew we just had to make a trip. And here they are while still wet - fab colours! Helen at The Vintage Bobbin.

The Vintage Bobbin: February 2014

http://www.thevintagebobbin.co.uk/2014_02_01_archive.html

Friday, 28 February 2014. My Spring cleaning has continued in earnest this week, this time with the hallway. When we moved in 7 years ago there was a cream carpet down in the hall, and its still there after 3 kids and 2 cats - so you can imagine the state of it! So I'm pleased to say that today's the day it goes - laminate in its place. I've painted the walls white - they were cream, but the white has made a huge difference and made it really bright and clean looking. Helen at The Vintage Bobbin. One of ...

Shrimpton and Perfect: May 2014

http://shrimptonandperfect.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, 29 May 2014. So the garden borders are coming along now. This circular border has been here since our house was built in the 1960s. Mrs. Fraser, the original owner planted it up. It's spot on. We rarely have to do anything to it and it has beautiful plants which bloom all season long. It only really dies back in the dead of Winter. You can see Sage, Rosemary, masses of Lemon Balm and just out of shot Thyme, which is covered in tiny flowers and bees. Tuesday, 27 May 2014. A few years ago I was i...
