The Voyages of Nathan

The Voyages of Nathan. Sunday, April 6, 2014. Well, this is the beginning of the end. I spent yesterday morning wandering around Rapa Nui, looking at some of the places I'd missed in the previous couple of days:. That afternoon, I headed back to Santiago (economy class, regrettably), and spent today wandering around the city, before starting my roughly 24 hour trek back to Alaska. And with that, I left for the airport. Saturday, April 5, 2014. Rapa Nui, Part 2. Today, I rented a bike to explore the island.

The Voyages of Nathan: Valle del Arcoiris

http://www.thevoyagesofnathan.blogspot.com/2014/03/valle-del-arcoiris.html

The Voyages of Nathan. Monday, March 31, 2014. Today was another small group tour, which I like a lot more than the big ones - this time with a pair of French hippies, a Chilean physical therapist, and a sick tour guide who spent the whole time in the van. (That was actually a plus, because it meant we could wander around wherever we wanted, and he was powerless to stop us). We visited the Valle del Arcoiris (Valley of the Rainbow), so named because of the incredible colors of the rocks here:.

The Voyages of Nathan: Rapa Nui, Part 1

http://www.thevoyagesofnathan.blogspot.com/2014/04/rapa-nui-part-1.html

The Voyages of Nathan. Friday, April 4, 2014. Rapa Nui, Part 1. Today, I flew to Rapa Nui (Easter Island). And, as if that weren't cool enough - I flew first class:. By some bizarre quirk in ticket pricing, the first class seats cost the same as the economy class. Score! I'll see more moai tomorrow, but there were a few near the town where I was staying:. Today I mostly just wandered around exploring the area near town. Very pretty. Do they cut the grass there? April 8, 2014 at 11:08 PM. Rapa Nui, Part 2.

The Voyages of Nathan: Well, that was interesting.

http://www.thevoyagesofnathan.blogspot.com/2014/04/well-that-was-interesting.html

The Voyages of Nathan. Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Well, that was interesting. Last night, around 9 PM, I was lying in bed reading, when I felt the bed start to shake. Earthquake," I thought, "Probably a 4.0.". It continued to shake. Make that 5.0.". I got up and stood in the doorway. More shaking. I heard glasses breaking in the other room, water sloshing out of the toilet, and people starting to shout. The lights flickered on and off with each shake. Yeah, I'm not really sure what happened there. So, ins...

The Voyages of Nathan: May 2009

http://www.thevoyagesofnathan.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

The Voyages of Nathan. Thursday, May 28, 2009. Well, I’ve been in Washington, D.C. for a few weeks now, and except. For a series of flat tires on my bike, it’s all been going well. I. Had about a month at home in Oregon, after finishing up in Mesa Verde,. Colorado in December and spending the winter in Japan, then I drove. 3000 miles across the country, with a few stops along the way to play. Scrabble with relatives. I’m working for the National Park Service. Chance to see plenty of other cool stuff.

The Voyages of Nathan: Arica

http://www.thevoyagesofnathan.blogspot.com/2014/04/arica.html

The Voyages of Nathan. Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Well, I kind of screwed up the timing of this one. I took the night bus from Calama to Arica, and from there I'd hoped to get a bus to Putre, at the entrance of Lauca National Park. Unfortunately, there's only one public bus to Putre each day, and it left Arica at the same time I was arriving, from the opposite side of town. I spent most of the day wandering around town, slathering on sunscreen, eating ice cream, and hiding from the sun in museums.

The Voyages of Captain Young

The Voyages of Captain Young. April 1, 2013. Two ships don’t sail at the exact same time. Originally posted on Thought Catalog. There are some things in life that we are so terribly afraid of, things that, for lack of a better phrase, we are scared shitless of. We exhaust all efforts in our power to delay their onset and prolong that precious time between now and then , but as we inevitably come to realize, denial is futile. We bought the fridge, and the collapsible shelves. I packed the duffle bags.
