The Walkabout Chronicles

A blog on Life, Travel, Fun and Discovery by an African in his Late Twenties.Hop on. Wednesday, October 17, 2012. So I have been tasked to write about Uganda, using my perspective as a non-Ugandan who until recently, two years past, resided in Uganda as well as the fact that I studied and worked in the East African nation. This is the fourth draft that I am penning and I hope I do not get to trash it at the end. Why is it hard for me to write about Uganda? On the Nile. Let me say that again, the NILE!

The Walkabout Chronicles: Kebabs on a bed of friendship

http://thewalkaboutchronicles.blogspot.com/2011/03/where-hospitality-matters.html

A blog on Life, Travel, Fun and Discovery by an African in his Late Twenties.Hop on. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Kebabs on a bed of friendship. It isn’t just the food it’s the experience of sharing the meal I can still hear their kind admonishments whenever I made a mess -. Dad: “Non, mais.est ce que tu dois toujours manger comme un cochon? 8221; which loosely translates as “Sharing a table with you is like watching a pig eat! 8221;- or for non-observance of Mum’s rather strict table etiquette;. A blog on Life, Travel, Fun and Discovery by an African in his Late Twenties.Hop on. Thursday, February 25, 2010. The heart of Darkness. 8220;We got the gig for the Congo”, my colleague announced jubilantly. “The one with the Belgium cooperation crowd. I told them language would be no problem with your French.”. I tried my best to look excited and gave a very unconvincing grin, closer to a death rictus than an actual smile. My world was crashing down. Oh God, No.Not Congo. Cold war obsessions(read the CIA...

A blog on Life, Travel, Fun and Discovery by an African in his Late Twenties.Hop on. Tuesday, May 11, 2010. A calendar, my father, three uncles and my brother. On the first of March 1896, a historical battle took place in the North of Ethiopia, a locality known as Aduwa. Ethiopia became a Reality. To Europe, Ethiopia became unattainable, mysterious, fierce and free, a respected, recognised entity, an empire of Africans in Africa, a place where a stand had been made against European colonisation. ...Growi...

The Walkabout Chronicles: Chronicling the moment in Burundi

A blog on Life, Travel, Fun and Discovery by an African in his Late Twenties.Hop on. Friday, July 22, 2011. Chronicling the moment in Burundi. While he has been good at all of them, he has excelled at photography. Bear with my skewed and probably incomplete picture(pun intended) as this is only the perspective of a sycophantic younger brother. So there it is. Ugly and Pretty, Past and Present, Peaceful and Warring, Black and White, This is Burundi trapped in a lens by Teddy Robert Mazina. My brother.

Blogger. Teasing out my energies subtly. drinking less, reading more, loving more, scowling less, slowing down and sniffing the wildflowers by the roadside. Thursday, November 25, 2010. Go for it Skz! My mind says to me. I do travel a bit, but when i do, i don't get the 'stomach' to chronicle my trips. Pity indeed-for my mind says "Skz, you are letting yourself down quite some'. Wanted to do an East-Africa, and from this, i wanted to observe, from a critical perspective, what makes East Africa tick.

Its March, can you imagine! It's March and i have not posted anything since November last year! Truth is, i have been on the move a lot. My work has been taking me to many places. Some of which have left me humbled, made me look deep inside myself, heightened my sense of self-appreciation for all that's around me. My folks loo...

Blogger. Teasing out my energies subtly. drinking less, reading more, loving more, scowling less, slowing down and sniffing the wildflowers by the roadside. Monday, June 21, 2010. Or can I say, thought convalescence to words… that point, that silent point, your mind *ting* the clarity, the openness, the reality of it all. I’m talking about those intermittent days, when you decide to come home early on a Friday night, and out of boredom, climb into bed early, say half 8. But it doesn’t. Thought two - &#82...

Onsdag 28. mars 2012. Welcome to Las Vegas.
