The Walters in Tokyo

The Walters in Tokyo. Saturday, December 10, 2011. We are back home, and man, this repatriation stuff is hard. Well, okay, stopping in Hawaii on the way home was really nice. The jetlag was quite manageable, actually. Oahu's weather is about 80 degrees and breezy all the time. That doesn't make for good swimming weather, though. It was freezing getting out of the pool. Of course, the kids wanted to go swimming all the time. The kids did some pony rides and became a cowgirl and cowboy:. We also ate from o...

The Walters in Tokyo: March 2011

http://thewaltersintokyo.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

The Walters in Tokyo. Thursday, March 31, 2011. The New World (Japanese) Order. This picture is from a little ice cream place near our house. They were closed during prime evening hours. I'm not sure why the "closed" and "saving energy" signs are not in Japanese, but you get the idea. It's different around here, but not alarmingly so. I went to the grocery store with the kids (not my favorite activity - see the previous post! Again, we feel safe, and if we think the kids are in danger, we will leave.

The Walters in Tokyo: July 2011

http://thewaltersintokyo.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

The Walters in Tokyo. Sunday, July 17, 2011. Welcome to the land of "right turn on red". So we're back in Wisconsin for a few weeks. And life is good so far. Although jet lag has kicked my @$ in a serious way; it's also kicked my kids' @$ es. 1 In Japan, there is no turn on red - ever. 2 Left turn lights always appear after the green light. (in America, left turns are allowed before traffic). Anyway.since we've been home, I've been to Target two times. We've also had lots of ice cream, deli sandw...A lot...

The Walters in Tokyo: June 2011

http://thewaltersintokyo.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

The Walters in Tokyo. Tuesday, June 28, 2011. If you're looking to make some good money or supplement your income, boy, have I got some ideas for you! 1 Be an English-speaking doctor for expats in Tokyo. (I know, I know. That's not really a "quick" way to make money.) These dudes make the cash. 2 Sell raspberries, blueberries, peaches and apples in Tokyo. What in the world will my grocery shopping habits be when we return to the US? You pay $120,000. Or, rather, your sponsoring company pays $120,000.

The Walters in Tokyo: Nikko

http://thewaltersintokyo.blogspot.com/2011/11/nikko.html

The Walters in Tokyo. Thursday, November 10, 2011. Last week I took the train by myself to a town called Nikko. It's a 2 hour train ride from Tokyo. This town is known for World Heritage designated shrines and temples. Let me tell you that shrines are used in Shintoism and temples in Buddhism. Autumn in Nikko is supposed to be gorgeous. This town did not disappoint. I will dump a lot of photos on you and try to explain what you will see. Here are the sights:. On the way up to the shrine/temple area.

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other: June 2010

http://jenhasanothernewproject.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other. Monday, June 28, 2010. Brainstorm 2010 was super humid and the air was so thick with moisture that it felt like you were swimming. Uh oh. Humid = not fun running/breathing. Fortunately, there was a good breeze going. How fun are those shirts? Here we're headed to the start line. I'd guess about 300 people showed up to run or walk:. These next two photos were about 800-1000 meters into the race (3/4 mile):. This is about 3K into the race when I thought. I looked ba...

http://jenhasanothernewproject.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other. Thursday, July 29, 2010. Last assignment for my writing class. I have finished my writing class, and while I'm not sad to be rid of Sam the Eagle/Yoda or the very depressing Linda, I'm a bit sad that I'll miss some of the other characters in class. I wish them free-flowing pens, smooth paper sails, and un-choppy sentences. Here is my last assignment. WARNING: it made my instructor tear up a bit. She had to ask for a tissue! Anne still thinks to herself. Perhaps th...

http://jenhasanothernewproject.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. It's late. I'm going to admit that I was staring at my closet for about 20 minutes before I opened my laptop and started typing. You see, tomorrow is the Fall fashion show at the Wauwatosa. Women's Club (you should all join! And I want to look nice. Duh, you say, but it's more the fact that I have to see my former Boot Camp coach, Sandi, than the fact that it's a fashion show. If I can do it, you can do it! Impossible is nothing. ...

http://jenhasanothernewproject.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other. Tuesday, October 18, 2011. So I've been making lists of things I want to include in the wedding and have come up with some nifty ideas. The only bummer is that I've only been able to make caveats to a lot of these "great" ideas. Here's the internal monologue:. Quilting squares for center pieces? Great, but only if I can find the right fabric. They're dirty and I have to find a lot of them. That's a lot of W's. Make my own table runners? Make my own website? Kind o...

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other. Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Running for Lung Health, Education, Firefighters, Children's Hospital, etc. If I can swing it I'll be running like a crazy person for a while. Wait, I just realized what I wrote. While I would normally ask that the peanut gallery please keep their mouths shut, I do love when you all write comments, so bring on the crazy jokes! Now, down to business. Here are the runs that I'm planning on doing for the next foreseeable future:. If I can sw...

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other: I've been a little busy

http://jenhasanothernewproject.blogspot.com/2011/10/ive-been-little-busy.html

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other. Tuesday, October 4, 2011. I've been a little busy. Sorry again for being a delinquent blogger. I've been a little busy. First, I'm engaged! It's true. It's perfectly wonderful in the "Oh my goodness I'm getting married! Don't worry; this won't turn into a wedding blog, but it might highlight some crafts involved in the wedding. Second, I've finished the Fox Cities half marathon! You know, that race I told you about back in July? You say. Well, you're right&#46...

http://jenhasanothernewproject.blogspot.com/2011/07/back-in-action.html

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other. Wednesday, July 13, 2011. I’m not going to waste your time and my blog space to apologize to you once again for my lack o’ posts. Instead, I’m going to let you know that I’m going to revamp this blog slightly to reflect my adventures in crafting, cooking and the great outdoors. If you hadn’t guessed since my last, long-ago post, I’ve jumped into quilting! See my adorable baby nephew enjoying my first (almost) solo quilt project:. Isn’t he cute? Summer cooking mean...

http://jenhasanothernewproject.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other. Sunday, January 16, 2011. My friend "Jane" told me a little over a year ago, "I think your nuts. I'm glad you love running, but I think you're nuts.". This past November, I got an e-mail from this same friend asking if I would run The Sampson Stomp and Romp. With her in January. That's what we did today. Jane" requested that our next race be a bit warmer. You can see our race results here. To run or not to run? To be or not to be? To marathon or not to marathon?

http://jenhasanothernewproject.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Just Put One Foot in Front of the Other. Monday, September 27, 2010. Ok, so except for those few times that I'm running late, ahem, I'm usually on top of the ball. I've got a handle on life, usually. Then I sit down at my laptop after a very productive day (you should see my apartment sparkle! And read a post from my friend Kalie. Who blogs from Texas and I realize that I'm behind. I haven't been consistent lately with running or posting. Labels: Bethlehem Lutheran School. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Walters' In Haiti Blog. Follow the Walters while we are in Haiti. December 7, 2010. We caught Steve this morning at breakfast and made a list of things that he would like accomplished for the day. We had some painting to do on the new guard station and at the missionary school house. They have SO enjoyed him being here and having someone to talk to. Delaney has had a good day helping us paint….although I think she is wearing most of her paint! December 7, 2010. Our flights were uneventful and Delaney...
