The adventures of Mike and Nikki. Wednesday, March 25, 2009. It's been a while since Nikki and I had a real adventure to share, but here's a good one: diving with whale sharks at the Georgia Aquarium! The dive takes place in a 6.3 million gallon tank which houses four whale sharks, as well as giant grouper, sawfish, hammerhead sharks, sand tiger sharks, zebra sharks, guitarfish, humphead wrasses, leopard rays, a manta ray and a strange creature called a wobbegong. Our plan to go to Florida for some scuba diving has been canceled, but we've got a slightly different big adventure planned for the near future, so stay tuned. Here Jim and Sarah help Kay present the turkey. Delicious! Next comes the...

The adventures of Mike and Nikki: September 2014
http://www.theadventuresofmikeandnikki.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
The adventures of Mike and Nikki. Saturday, September 20, 2014. We began our last day in France with a visit to the largest of the Loire chateaux, Chambord. Chambord's history is odd. Begun by Francis I in 1519 and intended to be a "hunting lodge," i. T has more then 400 rooms and sits on wooded grounds larger than inner Paris. Construction. Took almost thirty years to complete, but Francis spent only a few weeks there, and after he died, it was abandoned for decades. Did I mention that this thing is big?

The adventures of Mike and Nikki: July 2014
http://www.theadventuresofmikeandnikki.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
The adventures of Mike and Nikki. Sunday, July 27, 2014. France days 4 and 5. Days four and five, with rain clouds threatening, we spent in the museums. We began with a leisurely breakfast in the hotel courtyard. Then we took a walk past the Pantheon to the Jardin du Luxembourg, a seventeenth-century palace which now houses the French senate (and, supposedly the French secret service, in an underground complex beneath the garden). The building itself, formerly a train station, is one of the highlights.

http://www.theadventuresofmikeandnikki.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
The adventures of Mike and Nikki. Sunday, June 29, 2014. We arrived in Paris at 7:00 am, having flown out of Charlotte at 5:00 pm the day before. Via train and metro we made our way to L'Hotel des Grandes Ecoles. Exiting the metro, we walked in post-card Paris; old buildings, window boxes spilling over with flowers, and wrought iron balcony railings. After dropping off our bags at the hotel, we made our way on foot to the Isle de la Cite, approaching Notre Dame along the left bank of the Seine. Crossing ...

The adventures of Mike and Nikki. Thursday, February 26, 2009. Hey everybody. Check out Nikki's latest photo wizardry.first, her Valentine's Day project (these have not been photoshopped):. To create this effect, Nikki put the camera on the tripod in a dark room; then, she waved some flashlights around while holding the shutter open. Finally, a flash is used to illuminate the subject. Pretty cool, huh? After getting the technique mastered, Nikki got a little creative with it:. Sunday, February 8, 2009.

The adventures of Mike and Nikki: October 2011
http://www.theadventuresofmikeandnikki.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
The adventures of Mike and Nikki. Sunday, October 23, 2011. On our last day in Bonaire we stayed out of the water and explored the dry side of the island, especially Washington-Slagbaai National Park on the north end. To get there you follow a winding road north along the shore, like so:. Once you get there you find a landscape that looks much more like the American southwest than a tropical island. Here's the view from Nikki's vantage on truck bed:. This cave was pretty cool too. Round the north point a...
