On To The Next Adventure: March
http://ontothenextcrazyadventure.blogspot.com/2014/05/march.html
On To The Next Adventure. Thursday, May 22, 2014. Each year Bethel hosts a weekend of traditional Yu'pik dance and music performances called Camai, which we attended part of. Dave took a few photos and one video:. Hard to tell, but drummers surrounded the gym and people began singing and chanting throughout the room. It was actually quite moving. Me and the other first year itinerant social worker Jessica (also a neighbor in our apartment complex). A beautiful walk home in March. Heather and Jason Lewis.

On To The Next Adventure: January 2014
http://ontothenextcrazyadventure.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
On To The Next Adventure. Friday, January 24, 2014. Hi, I came across an interesting article about Alaska's failed effort at prohibition if you're interested. It paints an accurate and sobering picture of life in this area. Http:/ www.alaskadispatch.com/article/20130903/perils-prohibition-look-alaskas-failed-war-booze-part-i. Pointing to me, followed by, "Him, him, WHAT IS HIS name? Sunday, January 19, 2014. Catching up on life. As I'm trying to play catch up on the past month or so this is probably far ...

On To The Next Adventure: November 2013
http://ontothenextcrazyadventure.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
On To The Next Adventure. Wednesday, November 20, 2013. A truly arctic day. I'm in Kipnuk this week and think I've experienced my first preview of what winter will look like. While walking outside today the wind was blowing snow across the boardwalk and when I came back and checked the temperature it was negative two. It was a beautiful, but freezing walk just like you see in pictures of the tundra in Alaska minus the dog sled team. Sunday, November 17, 2013. Friday was a great day at work. I spent t...

On To The Next Adventure: October 2013
http://ontothenextcrazyadventure.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
On To The Next Adventure. Tuesday, October 29, 2013. And the weeks continue to fly. The last couple of weeks have flown by, it's hard to believe we're at the end of October already. Sorry these posts are so lengthy, we were sold on the idea of a blog by a friend (Heather:) who showed us the books that she's printed that capture a beautiful history for her family. We've never been good at journaling, so this is our attempt to rectify that and stay in touch at the same time. Hope you're all doing w...This ...

On To The Next Adventure: February 2014
http://ontothenextcrazyadventure.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
On To The Next Adventure. Saturday, February 22, 2014. Things continue along with crazy weather, busy weeks and new challenges. Dave's robotics team has been practicing every day, which is great for them but not so much for Dave's prep time after school. He's had some really long days and is looking forward to the state finals in Fairbanks in a couple of weeks. I finally remembered to take the camera with me the last couple of weeks and have some pictures that show what things look like this time of year.

On To The Next Adventure: September 2013
http://ontothenextcrazyadventure.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
On To The Next Adventure. Monday, September 23, 2013. Finally trying to figure out blogging. We found, after moving here, that internet access is limited and extremely expensive. I was hoping to write more frequently than once in our first month, and now I’m afraid that I’ll miss recording some of the most interesting first impressions and experiences here. So here are the most memorable highlights so far:. Realizing that continuous snowy peaks were poking through the clouds for much of the flight up here.

On To The Next Adventure. Thursday, May 22, 2014. If you're interested in learning more about Yu'pik cultural values and traditions, you might read Yuuyaraq: The Way of the Human Being by Harold Napoleon with commentaries, located at http:/ ankn.uaf.edu/ANKNPublications. I leave for Anchorage tomorrow for a licensing exam and will then fly to Oregon, and Dave will join me next week. We'll spend a week in Utah, then a month in Hawaii, then back to Oregon for family time before returning to Alaska....A lux...

On To The Next Adventure: April
http://ontothenextcrazyadventure.blogspot.com/2014/05/april.html
On To The Next Adventure. Thursday, May 22, 2014. Mom all bundled up while walking by the river in Bethel. What a good sport! A family ice fishing on the river. View of ice road and frozen river. Waiting for a fish . . . A luxury fish camp along the river, reportedly with electricity even! Driving on the ice road. Right after pulling the fish out, just missed the action shot. Dave trying to capture the cracks and textured layer of the ice. Boats frozen into the river in Kipnuk. The day after returning fr...
