The Tempered Optimist: Idol Worship? More like the biggest loser, pun intended
http://temperedoptimist.blogspot.com/2010/03/idol-worship-more-like-biggest-loser.html

The Tempered Optimist: August 2009
http://temperedoptimist.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

I contact Maryland Congress people yesterday to tell them to make health reform happen, particularly the public option. As I said in a previous blog: managed care insurers want their say; want to make millions and billions of dollars at our health needs. We need an option! Links to this post.

At a recent meeting of “Tuesday Morning Hooks, Yarns, and Thinkers,” an unusual hush fell upon our usually chatty group. Some were contentedly working on their projects in silence, but most were quietly counting, the numbers flowing softly out into the air creating a buzzy undertone. Not so with knitting.

If your knitting project is something flat, long, or square as are dish cloths, scarves, and afghans, or even a triangular shawl, you can choose your pattern, buy the yarn and needles called for in that pattern and get underway. Nothing has to “fit.”. Or the college co-ed who made the sweater for her guy and the wrists of the sleeves hang below his knees.
