Girls Love Travis Walker. The Wedding Cake Girl. I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where I lived out in the desert and had a bay quarter horse named Dolly. If I wasn’t riding, I was holed up somewhere reading Laura Ingalls Wilder or the Oz books or, later on, Jane Eyre and The Grapes of Wrath. Horses eventually faded as an interest, but I ended up with a lifelong love of books and reading. For more about Pru, see my Home Page. PS This is Taco. Middot; Photo Credit. Middot; Log in.

My Mother’s Diary. My Mother’s Diary. My mother, Merry Nell Drummond, fought breast cancer for 29 years, from March 31, 1981 through March 3, 2010. I was 10 when she was diagnosed and 39 when she died. I’ve never been fond of the battle imagery associated with cancer, but Mom loved it. 8220;You have to be a warrior,” she once told me. She was. She was also my muse, the first person to encourage my writing. Although I hated her cancer, it has provided more than a little writing inspiration. 32 Bad Hair Day.

Today is the day to sing with pirates and poets. Today is Take Your Poet to Work Day. My poet this year is not a pirate but a miserable failure of a poultry farmer. Robert Frost. Knowing nothing about chickens, I Goggled the breed and found this tidbit at www.raising-happy-chickens.com. I’m not sure how it will go, bringing...

My Mother’s Diary. Self-Care: Stop Striving, Start Trusting. August 1, 2015. This is the final entry in Laura Lynn Brown’s summer blogging project at MakesYouMom.com.). On April 8 our church welcomed a one-woman performance of St. Thérèse: The Story of a Soul. If it comes to your town, go! I knew vaguely who Thérèse of Lisieux was, and I’d read some of her autobiography years ago. I decided to reread it after the show. It has been life-changing. It’s always bothered me, just as it bothered the disciples ...
