catlady: November 2006
http://catladysblog.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 21, 2006. It Won’t Be Long Now. Pretty soon now, I’m going to be digging a grave and saying good-bye to Gibson. Gibson is only eight years old. It seems so unfair that I have to lose him so soon. His litter-mate, Tinkerbell, who has never been without him, will mourn as much as I. Daisy, who adores Gibson above all others, will mourn him most of all. It didn’t take more than a day or two before the kitten were climbing through the chain link fence into my yard. They were so ti...Every m...

The Lionheart's Den: April 2013
http://lionheartsden.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, 28 April 2013. Apparently, professional idiot Catherine Deveny announced on Anzac Day that she 'hates all Diggers, past and present.' Nice. Even allowing for the sad cliched method of provocation to generate interest in herself (shades of Greer perhaps? Greer, of course who responded to Salman Rushdie's fatwa by saying he'd only himself to blame) it's rather despicable. I prefer the Lucky Country to the Looney Country. Friday, 26 April 2013. What's the point of that? Thursday, 25 April 2013.

The Lionheart's Den: July 2014
http://lionheartsden.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, 19 July 2014. The Abbott government has appointed conservative commentator Janet Albrechtsen and former deputy Liberal Party leader Neil Brown to the panel overseeing appointments to the boards of the ABC and SBS. She also described the circumstances of an indeed very tragic case of a juvenile asylum seeker who had suffered the trauma of his father not just being murdered by the Taliban but what made matters worse was that his father also ended up dead as a result of the murder. This is a spons...

The Lionheart's Den: September 2014
http://lionheartsden.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, 28 September 2014. It is a crucial part of any journalist's remit to adopt a healthy measure of scepticism when scrutinising an incumbent government. After all, it would be a foolish inquirer who took everything he or she was told at face value without probing further. And, while I cherish the right of the media to keep an eagle eye spotlight on any government's actions, I do wonder whether some of these media commentators raised their influential voices in similar righteous disquiet over the pre...

The Lionheart's Den: All aboard the looney train
http://lionheartsden.blogspot.com/2014/09/all-aboard-looney-train.html
Saturday, 27 September 2014. All aboard the looney train. At least they pay their own way and don't require $1.2 billion in public money to spout their left-wing adolescent ramblings like the national broadcaster, but at times Channel Ten's Project gets my dander up in a way that never ceases to baffle me. Now, we're not used to that, are we? She must have yearned for the days when we had a prime minister who knew how to take selfies, bearing the signs of a mocked-up shaving cut incident. Or else, th...

catlady: Horse Slaughtering in America
http://catladysblog.blogspot.com/2006/09/horse-slaughtering-in-america_22.html
Friday, September 22, 2006. Horse Slaughtering in America. Each year in the United States close to 100,000 horses are sent to the slaughter house. The horse meat is shipped abroad to be sold as specialty meat for human consumption. In addition, thousands of US horses are shipped to Canada for slaughter. There are only 3 horse slaughtering facilities in the US and all three are foreign owned. But not until 2007! Regulations also allow horses to be transported for 28 hours without food, water or rest.

Monday, September 25, 2006. Daisy in the Garden. One June morning, as I was sitting in the kitchen drinking my coffee, I looked out into the back yard and saw, curled up on the roof of my garden shed, a tiny silver kitten. She was sleeping in the sun curled up in a tiny little ball. As the weeks went by, the kitten became more comfortable in my back yard and I would see her sleeping in the flower beds, playing in the azalea bush or chasing bugs across the grass. But she was still completely wild....On th...
