Review: Dollar Shave Club
http://www.thewoodnerd.com/reviews/dollarShaveClub.html
Such a thing as an unneeded tool? Posted: Jan 20, 2012. Review: Dollar Shave Club. These Blades Are F* *ing Terrible! OK, this isn't a typical Wood Nerd review. But hey, most of you shave, right? I came across an ad for Dollar Shave Club (DSC), promising quality shaving blades for just $1 per month. I thought the commercial was a hoot . Hey, sounded like a great idea, so I gave it a try. Lesson learned: Sometimes things are inexpensive because they're f* *ing cheap. Offers of free cash?
Should you change your motor from 120V to 240V?
http://www.thewoodnerd.com/articles/motorRewire.html
Two essential tools: WD-40 to make stuck things loose and duct tape to keep loose things stuck. Should you bother with changing your motors from 120 to 240? Is there really any benefit? For the most part, the answer is no. One very frequent question on woodworking forums is 120 vs 240 volt motors. Or, more specifically, how can I convert my wimpy 120 volt powertool into a manly 240 volt beast? The kW rating on your motor tells you how much power comes out, not what goes in. You also have a. Festool as a general dust collector? Filed under: Dust collection. I have read your review on the Festool but you did not specifically mention whether you use it for collecting/extracting dust while turning. Feed for comments on this post. Helical cutterheads vs Straight Blades: A cost comparison
http://www.thewoodnerd.com/articles/helical-vs-straight.html
Such a thing as an unneeded tool? True helical cutters from Byrd Tools. Published: Feb 16, 2011. Can you actually save money by spending money, all while getting a better tool? In December 2011, Fine Woodworking makes pretty much the exact same argument. As I do, just 10 months later. What a bunch of copycats :). One of the most common questions out there seems to be: Are helical heads worth the money? In general, most people only balk at the helical head models because of price. For example, right n...
Cutter for large wires
http://www.thewoodnerd.com/tips/cutLargeWire.html
Tis better to have tools you don't need than to need tools you don't have. Published Dec 15, 2011. An easy way to cut really large wires. Not a wire cutter, but it works like a charm. Amazon has a large selection of inexpensive pipe cutters. Note that this trick only works on braided wires this large, solid wires are best cut by a bolt cutter. Offers of free cash?
