The Wool Merchant's Daughter. All things knitting, handspinning, and fiber arts. Every so often, Ravelry or some other board provides an opportunity for photos not related to knitting. But they need to be linked from somewhere! This page provides parking for those random photos. A US Patent, circa 1925, for an enhancement to a spinning wheel bearings and flyer:. The Wool Merchant's Daughter. All things knitting, handspinning, and fiber arts. With Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival looming on the horizon, it seemed a good idea to make some headway spinning up a fleece I bought at last year’s event. It is a lovely moorit Finnsheep fleece that went through only the most basic of preps. I gave it a hot water rinse that took off what little surface grime there was but left most of the lanolin. Rather than send it out to be roved, I am using my favorite method: dog combs.

The Wool Merchant's Daughter. All things knitting, handspinning, and fiber arts. 8230; But This One Was Just Right! March 22, 2015. This is a story of gauge and needle size. I admit I am something of an indifferent knitter. In fact, I’ve often said if I ever wrote a book about knitting, I would use that as the title. I’m not a gauge person. I’m not a swatch person, except maybe with handspun because handspun can be tricksey. I found a pattern on Ravelry called Eiswein. The top cowl is from Lion Brand Alp...

The Lancaster Valley in Pennsylvania is one of the most beautiful places I know, and for the benefit of readers in various parts of the world, here are some of the local vistas:. Gently rolling green fields, cows grazing, tidy farms, and open sky:. You need to come to Pennsylvania to see REAL wide-open spaces. How did I miss this on previous trips? June 30, 2014.

The Wool Merchant's Daughter. All things knitting, handspinning, and fiber arts. Replacing Spindle Wheel Bearings. April 26, 2014. Great wheel, walking wheel, wool wheel, Jersey wheel, spindle wheels — the names vary, but the result is the same — the ability to spin fiber off the tip of a spindle. This is a typical example: what remains of the old cornshuck bearings is jammed up inside the bearing holes. Trim down this end and tuck through the bearing hole. Done. 15 minutes. These went in so ...Add the d...

Free Tutorials and Patterns. Tuesday, March 9, 2010. The Original Clothes Pin Bag. This is an odd tutorial because it is just the instructions for a kit that I made for my mother. Hopefully it will make sense! The bag measures 16.5" x 14". To make the bag you need -. A main fabric (17.5" strip across the width of the fabric). A wooden coat hanger. Approximately 24" of 2.5" bias folded in half. 15" of twill tape (or ribbon) cut into 3 pieces. My Mother's finished Clothes Pin Bag. Update Feb 3rd, 2013.

The Well Fed Wheel: A Storms A Brewin

http://thewellfedwheel.blogspot.com/2017/01/a-storms-brewin.html

Friday, January 6, 2017. A Storms A Brewin. At least that's what they're saying and I'm Not happy about it. The warnings have been scrolling across my TV screen for days. I'm so hoping they are wrong about it but the radar is clearly charting it's path directly over the top of us. We are in line for a good 4-7" or more. :-0. Grand Puppy Reba is awaiting it with gleeful anticipation. She always loved it when she visited us when we lived way up north. The Well Fed Wheel. January 6, 2017 at 6:03 PM. Hello a...

Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Oh dear.I'm so behind in my blogging and blog reading! I've been sooooo busy with my fiber that I've gotten behind in the blogging. I will catch you all up with the fiber stuff but first I must get to Kathy B's Monday Q and A! 1Do I prefer Hummingbirds or butterflies? Hmmmm I love them both! So much so that I have fake ones in my house! My little wooden humming bird hangs out in the living room in the tree by the clock. 2 Boxed water or bottled water? 8 You just won an all expen...

The Well Fed Wheel: July 2016

http://thewellfedwheel.blogspot.com/2016_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 29, 2016. My scrappy blanket is growing in leaps and bounds! At this rate I may have it done by Christmas. I've been gleefully adding square after square in every free moment I have. The temps outside are sizzling and I'm hold up in the AC knitting one square after another in reckless abandonment with literally no thought as to how many messy little strings are hanging from each and every square on the back side of this thing! I mean.seriously.what in the world was I thinking! And my plan is...

The Well Fed Wheel: It's here!

http://thewellfedwheel.blogspot.com/2017/01/its-here.html

Saturday, January 7, 2017. Blew in with freezing rain all night knocking out the power, then turning to snow this morning. Party Girl Reba is excitedly watching it accumulate. Crazy dog loves snow! And it is accumulating much to my disappointment! The horse is tucked in the barn and will still need a blanket tonight as those temps are really going to be dipping. After I see to him I'm going to park it in front of the fireplace and knit! The Well Fed Wheel. January 7, 2017 at 2:41 PM. A Storms A Brewin.

The Well Fed Wheel: December 2016

http://thewellfedwheel.blogspot.com/2016_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 31, 2016. Knitting in the New Year. There's a warm fire glowing in the fireplace, Pandora's playing quietly in the background. My little hooligans are sleeping at my feet, even my sweet Reba is here for an extended stay with her Grandma and Grandpa. It's a pretty good way to say goodbye to 2016 if you ask me. We love when she comes to stay! It's lucky for us her person loves to. Keep his mother in a state of worry. I've been paying a lot of attention to my scrappy blanket and it shows&...

The Well Fed Wheel: November 2016

http://thewellfedwheel.blogspot.com/2016_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 27, 2016. Turkey Day was a total success.the day before not so much! This set in motion mad dashes to the well to shut off the whole water supply to the house! We were back in business.NOT. it took him until 2:00 AM and $ $ to figure out that the delivery people had brought us a faulty dishwasher, so the expensive late night emergency plumber left and we went to bed exhausted with a now extremely expensive nonworking dishwasher for the big day! My girls made the punch. The Well Fed Wheel.

Monday, April 25, 2016. Porch Sittin.Porch Knittin. I had a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend. How was yours? The weather here has been magnificent for several days in a row. Saturday was sunny and warm and specially ordered for some serious "Porch Sittin" and "Porch Knittin". My little Hooligans were pretty much doing the "Porch Sittin". While I on the other hand, settled into a most relaxing bit of "Porch Knittin". When it got to warm on the back porch I simply moved to the front porch. They were a v...

The Well Fed Wheel: February 2016

http://thewellfedwheel.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 29, 2016. Am I the only one that gets totally bored watching the Oscars? And for some odd reason every year I seem to forget that it was painfully boring the year before and I turn it on again. The upside to this is that I made some serious progress on my poncho during the long drawn out parade of acceptance speeches. I did however enjoy Chris Rock and he made the night with the Girl Scout cookie sale for his daughters during one of the breaks . That was awesome! The Well Fed Wheel.

Sunday, September 8, 2013. We survived the first week of school. We had some drama about clothes and shoes on picture day, but overall everything went well. Both girls like their teachers and so far are excited to start the year. Saturday I ran a 5K with my friend who convinced me that getting up at 6am on a Saturday was a good idea. It was fine and I got a good time in the race. Congrats to Jen, who was running her first 5K! Taylor looks so little here! She is waiting for her turn to sub in. Jenna is wa...
