Monday, December 15, 2008. In the combox, below, Phyllis alludes to an email I shared with several folks from Chorale. I sent an email to composer David Conte, whose "A Stable-Lamp is Lighted" was one of our Joy of the Season selections. The piece is a setting to a poem by Richard Wilbur (b. 1921). I think you'll see why I had trouble getting through this one without tears and choking-up. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master rebuke thy disciples. A stall become a shrine.

Laura's Place: How come...
http://lauralowder.blogspot.com/2008/12/how-come.html
Sunday, December 14, 2008. I can't find any blogs about Catholic womanhood. I mean homekeeping, arts and crafts, being feminine, etc. Must feminine womanhood in all its diverse manifestations be the property of the Protestant evangelicals and fundamentalists? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thanks for stopping by - I'm an erratic and inconsistent blogger, but I hope it does some good to someone, somewhere. I hope it brings you a bit closer to Christ. Laura's Place: August 2008
http://lauralowder.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 30, 2008. I'm in a debate on one of the boards I frequent with a woman who's very pro-choice and insists that she would abort if she became pregnant. She called the preborn child a parasite and compared it to a tapeworm. Needless to say, I disagreed with her. What might need to be said is that she and I are friends, so I feel a particular tenderness toward this woman, and a need to protect her from some of the other, even more passionate remarks, of some participants. Nope - the people M...

Sunday, March 16, 2008. Better, thank you all! The back is better, thank you for caring - went to the chiropractor Friday and got an adjustment -. Still "on ice" part of the time, and I missed the glorious concert with the NC Symphony this weekend - Bach! I missed singing Bach! Wailing, here) -. But I did make it to Mass and choir rehearsal this morning, and made it through okay - early mornings are a little tight and unpleasant, but as I move around a bit things get a lot easier. Laura's Place: Powerful insights from A. Guy Maligned -
http://lauralowder.blogspot.com/2008/12/powerful-insights-from-guy-maligned.html
Monday, December 08, 2008. Powerful insights from A. Guy Maligned -. From "Guy" at What Women Never Hear. If you haven't visited this blog, you should. Frequently. Attentively. 401 Dark Side of Feminism — Part 21. December 6, 2008 by A.GuyMaligned. Feminism produced political, legal, and economic gains for women. No dispute from me. But women have not heard it all. 183; Plus, they pushed their agenda without consulting men. It was women only, and they set out to beat men into submission. 183; TV and movi...

And heavily mulched with straw, and composted with well-rotted horse manure - And my neighbor, Greg, is coming over tomorrow to plow part of the garden. and. To bring me some more horse maure - and I'll have to resort to Round-Up for one bed of something nasty, but that won't be too bad, and I can hit the poison ivy in the hedge row while I'm at it.

http://lauralowder.blogspot.com/2008/12/parent-has-complained-that-her-childs.html
Wednesday, December 10, 2008. A parent has complained. That her child's primary school Christmas - pardon me, Winter concert contained a reference to Christmas. Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer"? Gimme a flippin' BREAK, here. There are so many things wrong with this issue that I don't even know where to begin. For one thing, "Rudolph" is a secular song from start to finish. Evidently this mother is some sort of literalist extremist to want to suppress a word. In her child's school. And he told me, grinnin...

Thursday, February 21, 2008. Hope is one of my girlfriends from that website that shall henceforth remain nameless (until I forget I resolved never to mention it again LOL) -. Got an email from her a few minutes ago - she is scheduled for an angiogram tomorrow morning, Friday, 2/22. Some weird physical feelings had her uneasy, so she went to the doctor, just to play it safe -. Hope's a young woman, in her 30s I'm sure. Please hold her in your prayers. Update will be posted as soon as I have one. I ache f...

Laura's Place: October 2008
http://lauralowder.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 30, 2008. How I spent my birthday. I hate birthdays. Don't mind getting older, but if there is one day in the year when I can count on being disappointed, stressed, and downright miserable, it is October 28. This year was no different. Nevertheless, some good stuff happened. This year, my birthday was on a Tuesday - that means Chorale night. And as I was driving up the road toward that city wherein Chorale meets. I helped catch a horse. Yep Catch. A. Horse. Remainder of trip was pleasan...
