World Wide Weber

An American in Cameroon. Thursday, May 13, 2010. After an incredible 3.5 months, I'm back in the USA.and missing Cameroon a lot. Nebraska is fairly boring at the moment, since my two friends from Lincoln are still at school and my brother is mostly interested in his computer. Playing with the dogs is fun, but doesn't quite provide full-day entertainment. Some things I miss right now:. Plantain chips and egg sandwiches. Makossa music blasting in the streets. Drinking "33"s and Mutzig beers. States Parties...

World Wide Weber: February 2010

http://theworldwideweber.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

An American in Cameroon. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Friday, February 12: 9:44 pm. Hanging out in my room in Yaounde. Tomorrow we head to Dschang, a much smaller city (or perhaps large village) about a 6-hour drive away (taking into account traffic, being stopped by police, possible other detours and roadblocks along the way.). I'm trying to pack my bag for this 2-week excursion, but unable to decide what to bring, I decided to procrastinate by writing. Monday, February 15: 8:30 pm. Apparently, a girl la...

World Wide Weber: December 2009

An American in Cameroon. Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Send Me Mail in Cameroon! It may arrive eventually! C/o School for International Training. Make sure to put some serious postage on there. And don't send any packages - apparently, they tend to disappear. Sunday, December 27, 2009. My First Exotic Locale: Columbine Lake, Colorado. After some finagling and changing of flights, we organized our first ever family ski trip. My brother, sister and I would be reliving camp, it seemed. Winter Park, as we le...

World Wide Weber: Nasara! Nasara!

http://theworldwideweber.blogspot.com/2010/03/nasara-nasara.html

An American in Cameroon. Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Now I'm in an Internet cafe, trying to get some sort of Haggadah printed out for a makeshift seder we're going to do next week for Pesach. I met up with a guy from the Israeli embassy in Yaounde last week to get a huge box of matzah. The other Jews on the program and I are looking for things to represent the other Passover staples. Next week, Waza! I'll be seeing elephants, lions, baboons and such at this national park in the extreme North. I'm pumped!

World Wide Weber: A Very Ngaoundere Passover

http://theworldwideweber.blogspot.com/2010/03/very-ngaoundere-passover.html

An American in Cameroon. Tuesday, March 30, 2010. A Very Ngaoundere Passover. I've had some strange Passover experiences in my life. First there was the seder in Paris, a confusing mix of French and Hebrew with a family of strangers. Then there was the seder with my cousin's husband's parents on a secular kibbutz in northern Israel, a mishmosh of traditions in which I'm fairly certain we accidentally repeated several sections of the seder twice. But last night was the strangest seder yet. Joyce: Thanks s...

World Wide Weber: Hey, I'm Still Alive!

http://theworldwideweber.blogspot.com/2010/03/hey-im-still-alive.html

An American in Cameroon. Thursday, March 11, 2010. Hey, I'm Still Alive! Long time, no post. I've been hanging out in Yaounde, same old same old. As I've heard said before, it's harder to write about a place after you've been there for a while, since things aren't new and exciting anymore. Life in Cameroon is still going well, though! A few moments of interest:. I met an intense Israeli man named Ofir who runs an NGO called the Last Great Ape Association, as well as several other NGOs that aim to fight c...

Friday, December 7, 2012. Family Trip of a Lifetime - Getting There. On Father's Day, mom and dad announced to the family that they would be taking the entire family on a trip to Disney World. The grown up kids knew, but the grandkids were totally excited. It was exactly 100 days until we left. The boys asked us almost every day if it was time to go to Disney World and had a few temper tantrums during the few months wait. Caroline packed travel goodies for the kids so they would have plenty to eat during...
