The Worshipful Woodworker

Tuesday, July 26, 2016. You’ve probably heard the old joke, how do you carve a marble elephant? Easy, you get a lump of marble and cut off all the bits that don’t look like an elephant. I did some carving during my training in antique restoration and to a degree the punch line represents good advice, just cut off the pieces that don’t belong. My tutor made it look easy. He could visualise the finished product very early and remove large slices of unnecessary timber with confidence and speed. 8220;…...

The Worshipful Woodworker: April 2015

http://theworshipfulwoodworker.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. The value of a man is about $1 in terms of trace elements. Thankfully God doesn’t value us in that way, He looks at us and sees the whole exciting story. Luke 12:6-7 (NIVUK) spells it out. Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Watermark theme. Powered by Blogger.

Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Why did we tackle it this way? Well, we didn't want the project to become the focus of our family's lives - that position was already taken. Two verses come to mind:. Matthew 6:21 - For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Proverbs 16:3 - Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Worshipful Woodworker: September 2011

http://theworshipfulwoodworker.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 15, 2011. I picked up four old matching cedar doors from the Grenfell tip recently. Picked them up quite literally as they were lying on a big pile of building rubble. They are pretty rough, with broken glass and 7 or 8 coats of paint ranging from battleship grey, through a festive yellow to a faded eucalypt green. On the plus side, I've salvaged a couple of locks and four hinges. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Watermark theme. Powered by Blogger.

The Worshipful Woodworker: May 2012

http://theworshipfulwoodworker.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 22, 2012. I was helping Mum clean out a corner of one of Dad’s numerous back yard sheds a while back when I found a treasure. Dad was supervising – 84 years gives you that right – when I lifted up an old file handle. 8220;Chuck that old thing”, Dad said instantly. But I didn’t have the heart to. Dad used to sharpen a lot of chainsaws during his sawmilling days and if you’ve ever tried it you’d know that the small tang on the end of a round file is hard on your hands. I am most happy, then, t...

Our croft, located near the south coast of NSW, is a work in progress. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Goodbye 2014, hello 2015. Our croft, located near the south coast of NSW, is a work in progress. Sunday, July 10, 2016. It's like starting over. The steel frame is scheduled to arrive in August. But wait there's more. 65279;. Having completed the upstairs cupboards and plastering we decided it was finally time to oil the stairs. The change is just amazing. The photo of the half completed Harry Potter door below shows the transformation in progress. 65279;. 65279;. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Our croft, located near the south coast of NSW, is a work in progress. Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Before, during and after. After restoring 10 sheets of antique pressed tin for our bathroom ceiling I feel that I'm somewhat of an authority on the subject. At least on the topic of how to prepare and paint the stuff - but it did take some experimentation. Plan A for ridding the decades of paint, dirt and unidentifiable gunk was a wire brush on an electric drill. Heat an area of about 30cm x 30cm until th...

Our croft, located near the south coast of NSW, is a work in progress. Friday, January 31, 2014. The right tin to do. 65279;. Pressed tin in the bathroom. Installing it brought its own challenges, particularly for two vertically challenged builders like Jeanette and I. But I have to say the end result is just what we were after. We still have the cornice to go - I'm wondering about carving an egg and dart design into Tassie Oak. But I hope I talk myself out of it! Monday, January 13, 2014. You may...

Our croft, located near the south coast of NSW, is a work in progress. Wednesday, September 30, 2015. Pine handrail and copper balusters. So, after a nice distraction. We’re back to the main job – installing the hand rail and balusters on the staircase. The pine hand rail we’re using came from a 100 year old house. And, would you believe, is just about the right length. The balusters on the other hand took quite a lot of thinking. But we figured we wanted to finish this decade and dismissed the idea.

Our croft, located near the south coast of NSW, is a work in progress. Sunday, June 15, 2014. A cupboard with history. A couple of weeks ago we picked up the fifth set of French doors we'd been hunting for from a second hand place in Wombat, NSW. To sweeten the deal the owner offered to throw in a small blue cupboard. It looked like what we had in mind for over our bathroom basin - so it found a new home along with the doors. The cupboard has turned out to be quite interesting. Firstly, it has a s.

Our croft, located near the south coast of NSW, is a work in progress. Tuesday, September 20, 2016. It was with great excitement that we took delivery of our shed frame the other week. Manufactured by The Steel Framing Company. TSFC), owned by Will and Sarah. It is a work of art. As Will pointed out, it's not really a shed, but a class 1A dwelling (ie a house) with no internal walls. Hence the unshed-like diagonal braces and verandas. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Worship Chords and Lyrics for OnSong and Planning Center Online. Don't get me wrong, they’re really great tools they’re just a little too great. All of the features like hyperlinks that show chords charts when you hover, auto-scrollers, key changers, etc. all make for a web-fun but iPad un-friendly experience. It's even quite cumbersome on the computer since every copy/paste ends up having odd spacing or crazy hyperlinks everywhere. Some great tools for planning and leading worship. OnSong App for iOS.

64 21 244 5015. Welcome to The Worship Grid. We’re neither here nor there. We’re musicians who want to use our gift for the Church, not just in. We want to serve by worshiping where we are needed. We’re here. And we’re there. We’re also a group of communities brave enough to put up our hands, not just in worship, but to serve other communities that need our help. We’re a group of communities that are seeking to be one community. I’m not so sure this is new thinking. It’s centuries old.
