Thursday, December 6, 2012. DIY: Bean Bag Toss and Board. I opted for a tractor themed, two-year birthday party for my son this year, since he's become tractor obsessed. I made a tractor cake, a tractor gift box for all his tractor gifts, tractor food, John Deere colors everywhere.I'll try to post about the whole party another time for those of you who'd like a little more inspiration for this type of themed party. In the meantime, here is a run-down on how I made a bean bag toss for $2 . Plus, as a bonu...

Tuesday, May 28, 2013. DIY: Toy Storage Bench. This $5, yard sale bookcase was the perfect find to create a toy storage bench for my son's room, now that his crib has vacated the premises. I based my idea off of the Pinterest pin. That has been circulating for over a year. 1 Find a narrow bookcase that can lay on its side. 2 Sand and clean the bookcase to prep for paint. 3 Because the shelf was black, I had to use three coats of primer. Oooo, thank yooouuu! I love my table! Yankee Doodle Dandy,. He has a...

Monday, June 17, 2013. Microwave Bar of Ivory Soap = Awesomeness. Ok, so another Pinterest idea has been tested and reviewed, and I like it! Based off of Our Best Bites. Post from last April, we microwaved a bar of soap. Not just any soap, but Ivory soap. I'm a minimalist, and frankly, I just love the smell of Ivory soap. It's cheap, it comes in giant packs for just $4, it floats, it cleans you. I love it! Now, I can add microwavable awesomeness to the list. I placed our bar on a microwave safe plate.

Thursday, March 28, 2013. DIY: Stuffed Animal Zoo. My son's stuffed animal collection is already getting out-of-control, and he's only two. Rather than have them take up valuable toy storage in his closets and chests, I decided to make a Stuffed Animal Zoo. This way, he can still see all his friends with easy access in and out. Second step was to buy some bungie cords. I purchased eight 30" strands for this 31.5" tall case. I cut off one of the ends and slipped off both hooks. Particle board is cheap....

Friday, December 27, 2013. DIY: Dollar Store Pin Boards. It was Christmas Eve, and I had one evening to come up with an inexpensive gift idea for six of my husband's co-workers. So I flew down to my local Dollar Tree, and this is what I came up with: Framed Pin Boards. The cast of characters to make as shown are:. 4x6 Foam Craft Sheets. Stretchable Fabric Book Cover. Cardboard Box (on hand). Glue Gun (on hand). Mod Podge (on hand). For a fun mid-afternoon snack. Well, until the next! Yankee Doodle Dandy,.

Confessions of The YankeeGirl: Dear Lord, I'm THAT Mom!
http://theyankeegirl.blogspot.com/2014/10/dear-lord-im-that-mom.html
Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Dear Lord, I'm THAT Mom! So, MonkeyBoy has started preschool. I cannot believe how fast three and a half years have flown. Now, I move on to the next phase of motherhood; the snack toting, bento box stuffing, bake sale-ing phase. My turn for snacks for his class this week, and since Halloween is here, I opted for the the Pinterest idea of the week: spiders, witch brooms, and pumpkins. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I started a company! THE ORIGINAL YANKEE GIRL. I'm a hou...

Yes, there was a Yankee Girl before me, and she wasn't from the Bronx. The dark-haired Lauren Mason of society's Junior League would summon her super powers from ancient magic lore by saying Yankee Doodle Dandy. She was then transformed into the mighty Yankee Girl with the power of flight, great strength, and an unknown amount of invulnerability. The Yankee Girl with the Rebel Heart! I'm a fun lovin' Pisces with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. I'm married to a transplanted mid-western nuclear reactor operator and yearn to live on a farm down South surrounded by farm animals. Hey, wait, that sounds sick. The Yankee Girl on Facebook.
