The Zen RN: August 2016
http://thezenrn.blogspot.com/2016_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Facebook Falsity and Moments of Grace. E came up in my personal Facebook account from 3 years ago. We're at the beach and we all look so happy and content. It was a wonderful day. What you can't see in that picture is that behind the camera I was struggling with several anxiety and an exacerbation of PTSD. Earlier in that year I had a knife waved in my face during a patient visit and it woke the beast of my PTSD that I had struggled with 20 years earlier after being raped.

Tuesday, March 29, 2016. Come Undone: Ode to the Overworked Mamas. Women are expected to keep it together no matter what. We are the nurturers and the heart-center of our families. We work from sun-up to sun-down to make sure that everyone has what they need- often at the cost of our own bodies and sanity. Sometimes however, we need to allow ourselves to come undone. To fall facedown into our pillow and cry until our tears are spent. To lock ourselves into the bathroom and cry under a running shower.
The Zen RN: December 2016
http://thezenrn.blogspot.com/2016_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 27, 2016. Love is the Bridge Between Us. As a public health nurse, I often work with refugees, dragging my nursing bag into their humble low-income housing. Years ago, I had a final visit with a family that I had worked with for many months and that experience was one that I will never forget. May you live a life of peace. May your children and your children’s children live a life of peace. May you live a healthy life. May you live a life of abundance. The words were spoken over and ove...

Sunday, February 28, 2016. To the Parents of the School Bully – You Have Created This Monster. Maybe it is a naïve thought, but I believe that the vast majority of parents have their children’s best interests at heart. That fact somehow makes it even harder to watch from afar as parents make choices that not only negatively impact the other children at the school, but also will one day impact their own child. What I wish that you could know for yourself:. I shudder to imagine the adult life that is ahead...

I also wasn’t aware of how amazingly beautiful Dublin is in December, being it my first full month in Dublin last year. I do miss snow at Christmas, but the city is literally incredible. August 23, 2015. Well IMH...

After dark musings of a sleep-deprived mother reading through the night while the rest of the world sleeps. Sunday, November 13, 2016. The Dollhouse by Fiona Davis. Many thanks to Net Galley and Penguin for the advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.* *. Yet another book that's been buzzing about that I'm not sure about my feelings on. On the other hand, there were long boring stretches in which I wasn't really sure that I cared about the mystery at all. Want to read more?

After dark musings of a sleep-deprived mother reading through the night while the rest of the world sleeps. Monday, January 2, 2017. This post may contain affiliate links, please see full disclosure here. In the year of 2016, I read 145 books. My goal for the Goodreads challenge was 105 books, but truth be told- I always mentally shoot for 150. I didn't make it to 150 but I did read some incredible books, most pointedly more non-fiction books than ever before. Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson.

All about the latest news and Money!
Saturday, June 14, 2008. Obama talks the money talk! With the state of Pennsylvania. Becoming one of the battleground states, Obama barack has just outlined some of his economic policies that he would be adopting if elected as the president. From what I had heard so far, I have to say that this candidate is a much better deal for us than McCain would ever be. The economic policies as outlined by Barack Obama are realistic, practical and ones that can be initiated easily. Everything considered, Obama.

Monday, January 2, 2017. New Year, Same Old Me. So many people make resolutions on New Year's Day. I have in the past but always crashed and burned when reality set in(often in the cold, dark days of February) and my failed resolution never failed to make me feel like absolute shit. So, this new year I am determined to ascend, to rise into myself. There will be no "new me" this year because, dammit, I don't need to aspire to fit more into the box that society tries to fit me into. This year I wil...As a ...
