Thick Objects - A blog about scientific material culture.

A blog about scientific material culture. Remaking a local object: The Kirschmann coaxial colour mixer. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been building a 3d-printed model of a nineteenth-century psychological instrument used to demonstrate the nature of colour perception. The model, and, to a certain extent, the effects that it creates, can be seen in this video, though the actual blending effect is smoother and more coherent than the camera is able to show:. An exploded view of the model. 3d-prin...

http://thickobjects.org/incomplete-artefact-part-2-provenance

A blog about scientific material culture. An “Incomplete” Artefact: Part 2- Knowing an object’s past. Discussed some difficulties in understanding the history of the University of Toronto Chambers’ micromanipulator. Given the fact that various parts of it are missing. I noted that in order to understand exactly what is missing you need to understand its provenance. Here I’ll explain what I have and have not been able to discover about its past. A place of origin. After Dr. John Gerald FitzGerald. The mic...

Thick And Tired Of It

Wednesday, July 11. Donna The Gym Rat, Day 2. Ok, I just wanna whine for a minute. Another gym rat was using the ab machine I wanted. So I got on the one that gives me a mini-mammogram (you push down on a bar and unless you're sitting back, you pinch your breasts - it's definitely designed for a flat-chested person! I used that machine until my preferred machine was free. Ok, I'm done whining now. Was that a full minute? Good, I'll save the remaining 40 seconds and use them tomorrow. Tuesday, July 10.

Into the Thick of It

Into the Thick of It. The ramblings (and sometimes ravings) of an educated, stay-at-home, liberal minded mom living in an urban suburban area of the Heartland. Thursday, April 10, 2008. Looking for Into the Thick of It? Please head over to my spot at on Wordpress. Sunday, November 11, 2007. JP helped with decorating the snake- can you tell? Friday, November 9, 2007. Mr Tonks wouldn't let me light the candles for picture taking purposes. It turned out okay, I think, and I'm pretty sure JP will love it.

IN THE THICK OF IT

In The Thick Of It is a plus size fashion blog by Amanda Lee Stilwell based out Chicago, IL. Fat femme. Plus size fashion bargains. Living in Chicago. Summer Days in Los Angeles. My birthday is smack dab in the middle of the summer and when I was a kid, I just hated the fact that all my friends were away on vacation when my big day came around. It made for a lot of family filled birthday events - I guess it helps that I have FOUR siblings. Our trip was so fantastic - I want to share my favorites with you!

My Two Cents

Thursday, November 3, 2011. Napalm in your Napsack. Now more than ever, making a good impression during an interview is CRUCIAL. Heck, making a good impression BEFORE your interview is crucial. Every time you submit your resume, communicate with a prospective employer, and go on an interview you are literally competing against hundreds of people and it is your job to make the right impression. Always Read The Full Ad:. Make Sure You Are Qualified. A lot of job seekers blindly apply to every position whet...
