Javascript Controlled Pin Button for Images and Videos
http://thingsilearned.com/things/pin-button
Javascript Controlled Pin Button for Images and Videos by dave on 2013-05-29. My sister is making a great new site called Almost A Third Grader. Where during the summer she posts 3 videos a week for students between 2nd and 3rd grade to keep their skills fresh. She wants to share them on pinterest and make it easy for others to do the same by adding an embedded button to pin the videos. Pinterest has a great tool for manually creating the widgets. Pin Button for Images. Placing it in the Page. For the do...
Drawn to Write
http://thingsilearned.com/things/drawn-to-write
Drawn to Write by dave on 2013-07-26. I constantly get the urge to write. Every time I read or learn something I imagine myself finding my notebook or computer and writing about it. Its not so much because I think I have something especially novel to say, or because I think anyone will read it. Mostly I like to write about the. As a way of engaging and as a process of solidifying the thoughts so they can be built on top of. 5 Everyone's unwritten work is brilliant. Often I blame my lack of writing on the...
2014 Resolutions
http://thingsilearned.com/things/2014-resolutions
2014 Resolutions by dave on 2014-01-01. I'm not a fan of New Years Eve, but I do enjoy setting and sticking to resolutions. I've found that the ticket is to set definite, reasonable, written out goals. It also helps to not start them all at once but aspire to reach them all by the end of the year. Last year I had 3 resolutions and stuck to each one. They were:. Write down everything I eat. Stay off diet coke. This year I've made the following resolutions for the following reasons. I live in San Francisco...
Statically Generated
http://thingsilearned.com/things/static-site
Statically Generated by dave on 2013-03-29. I've long wanted to move my blog from wordpress, and have been really into static site generators lately, and after trying several of them out and not having a lot of luck with the wordpress export tools provided by each I finally waited long enough that most of my blog content is so irrelevant that it doesn't matter anyway! There are a number of static site generators out there. This Hacker News Poll. As its what I used to create the Chartio. Content pages as ...
Dynamically Calling Fancybox from Javascript
http://thingsilearned.com/2010/01/27/dynamically-calling-fancybox-from-javascript
Dynamically Calling Fancybox from Javascript by dave on 2010-01-27. Is a really nice jQuery library for creating lightboxes. There are a few simple examples. On their site but there seems to be no demonstrated method for loading a fancybox dynamically with javascript. All of their examples require you to embed a link to the lightbox content somewhere in the page source. The following hack, mostly taken from the method described here. These are the scripts and styles needed for fancybox to work - -.

Things I Know To Be True
Things I Know To Be True. From attempts to live a good life, one learns many lessons. This is a blog about mine. A life that comes out of good decisions is no good. What we want and we don’t get, we eventually learn to live without. Nobody wants to die alone. That is why we do what we do. That is what makes the world go round. Sometimes you need to start something to learn how to finish it. People say everything depends on attitude. Everything rather depends on perception, including attitude.

Setting and updating svn:ignore. On: April 21, 2010. I’ve found the command line to be the most reliable and simplest way of managing subversion repositories, but also found the svn:ignore property a little more esoteric to set up than I’d like. Is used to specifiy files and folders you don’t want to be part of the version controlled repository for your site or application build. These often include location specific settings files, development or debugging files etc. 8216; in your home directory. Proper...

Things I Learned Today
Things I Learned Today. It’s Sort of Like Watercolor. Gouache is a paint that is similar to watercolor. What makes it different from watercolor is that it can sustain greater value. In other words, you can paint more layers of gouache to get darker shades of a color. Since it is a water-color type paint, it’s used on heavier paper. It works really well on watercolor paper, but bond paper also works. What can it do? On September 19, 2011 in Art. Drawing Studio: Day 2: Beginning Sketching. The drawing I di...

Things I Learned At My MBA Internship
Things I Learned At My MBA Internship. I'm Linz, an MBA student at the NYU Stern School of Business. Currently, I'm spending my summer having a ball working in Digital Marketing, Research and Advisory at a very cool company here in NYC. My work involves researching fancy/fashionable stuff on the internet, playing on social media platforms for hours at a time, and talking to really smart people who are the best at what they do. Yep, I get paid for that. Follow me on twitter if you'd like: @Linz Shelton.
Things I Learned From
Things I Learned From. Small things we learn everyday. June 14th, 2009. An action thriller staring Jason Statham, do I have to convince you anymore to watch this movie? Jason Statham has become synonym for action movies that we can watch on weekend and enjoy it. Even though Hollywood action movies are mindless, most of the times. Here are few things that I learned from this movie. Use the comments to add more things that you learned from this movie. Packages sent to wardens are not checked for threats.
