The final stretch. The last lap. The light at the end of the tunnel. Whatever you call it, it sucks. | Bona Fide Betty

Writing my way to authenticity. The final stretch. The last lap. The light at the end of the tunnel. Whatever you call it, it sucks. Here’s the thing… with the exception of my career, I’ve never really been a “finish what you start” kind of girl. I’ve started and dropped more diets, hobbies, projects and book ideas that can possibly be counted. Remember the path to hell that’s paved with good intentions? Dozens of the tiles on that path were paved by me. Just wanted to check in. Love you all! Go, go go.

Hallelujah! Ph.inally D.one!!! | Bona Fide Betty
https://bonafidebetty.wordpress.com/2013/06/24/hallelujah-ph-inally-d-one
Writing my way to authenticity. This post is written by… wait for it… Dr. Bona Fide Betty! Throwing confetti and glitter in the air*. I’m done. Finally. After years of grad school, the writer’s block has been cracked good and deeply and my dissertation is complete, defended, and approved. I’ll be printing and delivering the official copies for binding this week, and walking across the graduation stage to be hooded on August 10. As Jenny Crusie says, Nothing but good times ahead! Bona Fide Betty, Ph.D.

Thinking Allowed: Zombie Snippet
http://sierrakm.blogspot.com/2011/04/zombie-snippet.html
Thursday, April 28, 2011. From my IM conversation with E this morning. Verbatim. :) Yes, we are hopeless geeks. Me: Perfect house for the zombie apocalypse - http:/ all-that-is-interesting.com/post/4956385434/the-first-zombie-proof-house. E: That is pretty cool. It does have some openings on the ground floor that are worrisome, so unless it is closed up when the apocalypse happens, you might be boned. E: I do love you, you know that right? Me: I love you, too. Me: What brought that on? In addition, there...

The Lone Woman Diaries: 10/1/13 - 11/1/13

The Lone Woman Diaries. Staying sane amid autism, anxiety, and too many penises. Following Me, Following You. Some fun and interesting things happened in the past week. I met Karen B. I finaled in two writing contests. I dug rubber bands out of Five's ear canal. Two of those three things are social media related. I met Karen through a blog written by Lucy March. Who is the alter-ego of Lani Diane Rich. Have I lost you yet? Hang in there, it gets better. Other notable women of the Bettyverse included Julie.

Honoring the Work | Bona Fide Betty

Writing my way to authenticity. My dissertation has been kicking my ass for months, and I am way behind, as usual. But I am making progress. Progress is being made. There will be an end to this damn project one day soon. In the case of the mug, SLUTS stands for Southern Ladies Under Tremendous Stress, which I definitely am. This corner of the office is a much nicer place now, and I got some writing done today, thanks in no small part to you lovely ladies. 6 thoughts on “ Honoring the Work. Fill in your d...

A Thankful List | Bona Fide Betty
https://bonafidebetty.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/a-thankful-list
Writing my way to authenticity. Once again, I am blatantly stealing an idea from Lora, the fabulous LitDiva. 5 Things I am Thanfkul for At This Moment:. 1 Indoor plumbing, electricity and Internet (which we had a few days without last week and which I am eternally grateful to have again). 2 Antibiotics and medicine (cause even though this cold/cough mess is AWFUL, I know it is not life-threatening and my son and mom will be OK soon). What are 5 things you are thankful for, in this very moment? Those are ...

Thinking Allowed: I Am
http://sierrakm.blogspot.com/2011/05/i-am.html
Friday, May 6, 2011. I am the deep blue-green-gray-purple of the ocean’s icy depths. I am the burning red-orange-gold of the hottest molten flow. I am the burbling laughter of an eternal spring. I am shards of moonlight falling in a silent symphony. I am the pain so fierce it makes your bones ache, blood freeze, and your nerves sing. I am warmth and softness to hold you in the darkest parts of night. I am the tree that bends during spring’s harsh wind-storms,. The rock upon which all is built,. And all t...

The end … | From the Coastland
https://fromthecoastland.wordpress.com/2012/04/22/the-end
Spinning Thoughts and Tales. The end …. April 22, 2012. For seven years my mother has braved a battle of deteriorating health, sometimes with fierce anger, sometimes with silence, sometimes with humor and laughter. It has been a long road with many dips and plateaus both physically and mentally. Often I would come home drained and angry. I’ve mourned the loss of who she was, trying to reconcile the strong image with the frail woman she became. I leave you with a little story. 8221; After a little hum, sh...
