Things what I did bake

Things what I did bake. Tuesday, April 2, 2013. I got so excited when baking this one that I forgot to take photos! Also, I was running late for Easter Sunday lunch and I was determined to finish making this so I could take it with me (and score a return invitation! With or without photos - this is a winner. Bill granger's coconut bread. Via The New York Times. I made roughly 1 1/2 batches ( to serve as 1 1/2 hostess gifts . I ever so politely stay long enough to ensure I'm served some! 4 very small eggs.

Things what I did bake: January 2013

http://www.thingswhatididbake.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Things what I did bake. Monday, January 21, 2013. Bread Take Two: Rustic white-ish loaf. This time it was a combination of completely running out of bread (which was worse than usual because I was roasting a ham and thus had no way of making sandwiches with the leftovers! And a desire to get this bread thing right. I returned to old reliable. Remembering that Deb had gone through a bit of an obsession with bread a few years back. There were two. Which she then simplified a little here. 1 cup warm water.

Things what I did bake: Absinthe Cookies: yes, they really are a thing.

http://www.thingswhatididbake.blogspot.com/2013/01/absinthe-cookies-yes-they-really-are.html

Things what I did bake. Friday, January 18, 2013. Absinthe Cookies: yes, they really are a thing. Wholefoods and generous friends to the rescue! Except that they're not. Or they weren't until I invented them. Or , more correctly, until I invented ' Absinthe flour-free chocolate cake. Mushed up with a bit of cream cheese frosting (cake pop style) then pressed and cut into cookie sized shapes before being dolloped with a generous portion of Channel Islands cream flavoured with Cointreau. Took control and e...

Things what I did bake: Back to bread basics

http://www.thingswhatididbake.blogspot.com/2013/03/back-to-bread-basics.html

Things what I did bake. Sunday, March 3, 2013. Back to bread basics. I'm going to get to grips with this bread baking, but at the moment I'm just enjoying getting the hang of how all the ingredients and processes work . I think baking is the only time I manage to find science interesting . When I prepped the (considerably fresher) yeast this time around I realised what might have gone wrong last time. Rustic White-ish loaf again. Once again, based on this recipe. 150ml 350ml warm water. Tip the dough bac...

Things what I did bake: Flashback: Grannie's biscuits

http://www.thingswhatididbake.blogspot.com/2013/02/flashback-grannies-biscuits.html

Things what I did bake. Monday, February 11, 2013. There was something funny in the air yesterday. Much later in the day, as i thought about this last point, I remembered it was the anniversary of my grandfather's. Death That day was a Sunday too, and it tore my world apart like I never imagined it would. So here's to memories; to family and friends of the past, present and future; to staying close, even when you're very, very far away. This is how big walnuts are. Honest. 8 oz margarine or butter. I can...

Things what I did bake: Jamie Oliver's Banana & Honey Bread

http://www.thingswhatididbake.blogspot.com/2013/01/jamie-olivers-banana-honey-bread.html

Things what I did bake. Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Jamie Oliver's Banana and Honey Bread. As I sat at home on on a Saturday night, sick for the second weekend in a row, I had three serendipitous thoughts. As usual, I made compromises. I used defrosted bananas; I think my yeast was a little old and I totally miscalculated; I forgot to add the honey; I ended up proving it about 3.5 times; and finally my breakfast was ready at . well . dinnertime. Lizzie's Banana and Honey Bread. 400g strong bread flour.

And the pieces I saved for you. Damn you make my blood race. Dreams are all I have ever truly owned. One fine day this predatory world shall consume itself. Truth is singular. Things We Will Miss About London

Things We Will Miss About London. Stumbling Upon Random Stuff Like This…. On July 4, 2011. I was walking between the two main Framestore offices to pick up my bike at the end of the day and could hear lively brass band music. I turned the corner into Noel Street to find a large group of people with cans of beer following this band around. It turns out that they are the Hackney Colliery Band. Who I had heard several times on The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show. On Poland Street. I bought the album. Not o...

November 11, 2013. It is a truth universally acknowledged that a life-long native speaker of English is, when handed a microphone or placed in front of recording equipment and commanded to. Say something, anything,. Constitutionally incapable of producing anything more eloquent than Erm, hello, hello, my name is X is this working? Um, I don’t know what to say. One two, one two. On some black I-80 mile. It is Greek- it cannot be read. A phrase used by medieval monks, who had become increasingly unfamiliar with ancient Greek, whenever confronted with a Greek quote in a Latin manuscript. The original Latin phrase is “Graecum est, non legitur” if you want to try it out on your Greek professor. (via thoodleoo. It’s all Greek to me. Listen asshole we all have problems. Outside it's constantly SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Uses hands as a megaphone] DICKS. Well, that worked! A sort of...

Minky Superhero Baby Blanket. I’m going to start this post by trying to clear up some confusion with the fabric name. In the US, it’s known as Minky. In the UK there’s a company called Minky. Who make ironing boards and the like and therefore the fabric is generally known as plush or cuddle plush fabric. I’ll point you in the direction of Plush Addict. Where I bought this fabric from who explain it far better than I do right here. Handy hint that I found here. Pin the Minky frequently to stop it stretchi...

Things What I Wrote | It's Fiction Dammit!

Things What I Wrote. It's Fiction Dammit! September 17, 2014. I don’t have much to offer, said the man. But if you give me some bread, I will tell you a story. The baker looked at the man sceptically. His clothes were torn and he had no shoes on his feet. His hair was long and ragged and every inch of exposed skin was covered with dirt and mud. The baker questioned. What good is a story to me? It’s true, said the man. His eyes gleaming within the grime of his face. February 19, 2011. I’m hooked Hank he c...
