Thinking About Loud!

Monday, 15 April 2013. Thoughts: The Third Son by Julie Wu. I often felt really depressed by the injustice Saburo has to face. It seems he is never lucky and has to work hard for his future which always seems at the edge of being destroyed by some envious or evil characters. Although he struggles really hard, I could not quite get engaged in Saburo's character. I read about his fate from a distance. The book will be released in spring this year. I received a review copy from Alonquin over Netgalley.

Thinking About Loud!: Thoughts: The History of Love by Nicole Krauss

http://thinkingaboutloud.blogspot.com/2013/02/thoughts-history-of-love-by-nicole.html

Sunday, 10 February 2013. Thoughts: The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. This was my second attempt of reading something by Krauss and like it. I already read Great House and never could really plunge into the story. It was the same with this book. I took me like forever to get into it. Zvi Litvinoff is an author and his best known piece of work is The History of Love. But he has a secret too. I wonder if everybody was clueless like me about the book until near the end. Labels: my book reviews. Aww I le...

Saturday, 19 May 2012. Thoughts: The Outcast by Sadie Jones. Lewis' life moves in a downward spiral. He makes one bad decision after bad decision. Nobody helps, but nobody wants to help either. Only Kit, a girl, a little younger than Lewis, living in the neighborhood, attempts to include Lewis in their small town life. Only he already became the outcast, living in an isolation which seems to be easily suspended. By Sadie Jones, published March 2012. Labels: my book reviews. Thursday, 17 May 2012. Dear re...

Thinking About Loud!: February 2012

Monday, 27 February 2012. What are you reading? Last week I read:. Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout - Olive's story is told through short stories about her neighbours and friends. I liked this approach and the uniqueness of each character and his or her own story. Though Olive is a cranky, resentful old bugger I got to like her, too. Now I am reading:. It's funny and as witty as sheep can be. It's Monday is hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Thursday, 23 February 2012. In a shelfari group I particip...

Thinking About Loud!: October 2011

Monday, 31 October 2011. Thoughts: The Bone Garden by Tess Gerritsen. A little bit of crime, a little bit of mystery, a little bit of sentiment and you have this: a suspenseful page-turner, faster read than you can say "The Bone Garden". Julia Hamill, a 38 year-old divorcée, is working in her garden when she thrusts on bones. Those turn to belong to a female long dead, the fractured bones suggest murder. Julia is intrigued. Who was that woman? Why was she murdered? Labels: my book reviews. I write like .

Thinking About Loud!: January 2013

Tuesday, 22 January 2013. Thoughts: Habibi by Craig Thompson. First things first. I am not into graphic novels. But there is always a but, isn't it? I stumbled across this piece in my friend's bookshelf because you can just not miss it. It's huge, and the cover art is lovely. It's like a big bible but it is not a bible. It is though an approach to get to know religion, to be specific the Islam religion and other cultural aspects of the middle east. Labels: my book reviews. Friday, 11 January 2013. The wr...

Life as We Know It

Life as We Know It. Sunday, July 26, 2015. Sometimes I Wonder Who You'd be Today. My first thoughts are about what kind of uncle he would be. He loved spending time with Brook when she was younger. I know he would love what a wild child Brielle is, and I can almost hear him laughing at her antics. I wonder what he would think of Brook now, and if he would like to play with the girls when we come to visit. Then I wonder what our relationship would be like. Would I have learned to appreciate him more?
