Everyone in authority is afraid. That the book on my desk is The Hour of Decision. Lest you may, at this juncture, think me unduly harsh, I would refer you to David Bolchover’s The Living Dead: Switched Off, Zoned Out The Shocking Truth about Office Life. The management structure, as with partners in consulting and legal firm...

With municipal elections coming on 25 October 2010 here in Toronto, I’m starting to get over coffee, in corridors questions about my views of the various declared candidates. Matter to the majority! And what kind of questions we might want to ask the candidates, and ourselves, before making choices. As an example, Toronto has ...

Thinking in Plain Sight. A Philosopher at Work, by Bruce Stewart. Laquo; What Organizations Value Most of All. Just a Moment, Please. 24/02/2010 by Bruce Stewart. It is so incredibly easy to drop a couple of weeks without writing, when you are constantly creating original material for a blog. Gentle readers, please accept my apology. I really hadn’t intended the absence to be so long! This, in turn, was emphasized this morning to me while commuting, as I listened to last Friday’s A Point of View. Sake as...

Thinking in Plain Sight. A Philosopher at Work, by Bruce Stewart. Laquo; Policy by Straw, Snowflake & Pebble. The Book That Turned You On To Reading…. 03/02/2010 by Bruce Stewart. Today my email went “ping” to reveal a message from within the Faculty, calling for submissions that outlined a request, for the upcoming Ontario Library Association SuperConference, for us to volunteer “the book that turned you on to reading”. In any event, the request has done its job: it got me thinking. Mowgli and Shere Kha...

Thinking In Play – Playing with big ideas
Playing with big ideas. Thinking in Play is a centralized place for me to write down my thoughts and compile research that I’m doing. As a graduate student and junior scholar, I am constantly reading and reflecting, but don’t often release my ideas into the wild. My vision for Thinking in Play is for me to post about readings, work through new ideas, and to talk about materials that I present at conferences. Feel free to drop me a line at cstuart7@emich.edu or christuartmail@gmail.com. March 31, 2016.

Tuesday, February 25, 2014. On reading Philo, Legatio ad Gaium. This week I read Kenneth Schenck's magnificent little primer to Philo, A Brief Guide to Philo. Westminster John Knox, 2005), which has motivated me to face my Philophobia and wade into Philo's writings. I enjoyed reading In Flaccum. And am now reading Legatio ad Gaium. I am surprised by some of the things Philo says, and I'm hoping that some of you Philo experts might be able to provide some guidance. Okay, here's my question ( in bold.
