Scientia potestas est. - Knowledge is power. Sunday, 14 September 2014. Quality of YouTube Comments. So it's common knowledge by now that if you want to see the most mind numbing, narrow minded side of humanity all you need to do is visit the comments section on an even slightly controversial YouTube video. It's actually kind of sad to see the comment section slowly become filled with hateful negative comments and overwhelm the nice ones. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Don't Click ;).
Scientia potestas est. - Knowledge is power.: Using the ESP8266 WiFi module with an Arduino
https://ashwinnarayan.blogspot.com/2014/12/using-esp8266-wifi-module-with-arduino.html
Scientia potestas est. - Knowledge is power. Monday, 8 December 2014. Using the ESP8266 WiFi module with an Arduino. So I was pretty excited when I discovered the new cheap ESP8266 wifi module. It seemed too good to be true. I kept feeling that it's got way too many features for it's cost. There had to be a catch somewhere. I had mine delivered to me a couple of days ago and it's the real thing! First of all, here's the pinout of the module:. GND goes to ground. Both RST and CH PD also goes to 3.3v.
Scientia potestas est. - Knowledge is power.: FPGA : A minor hiccup
https://ashwinnarayan.blogspot.com/2014/11/fpga-minor-hiccup.html
Scientia potestas est. - Knowledge is power. Wednesday, 5 November 2014. FPGA : A minor hiccup. So I was happily working on my FPGA for a while on my Linux system. One day, due to some work I had to do on a piece of software that only worked on Windows, I had to boot into my windows partition. The next day, I booted back into Linux and the board was doing the same thing. The red programming led was coming on but the board wouldn't work. D Never expected that! Time to resume work on that project! Most mac...
Scientia potestas est. - Knowledge is power.: VGA Output from an FPGA
https://ashwinnarayan.blogspot.com/2015/02/vga-output-from-fpga.html
Scientia potestas est. - Knowledge is power. Monday, 2 February 2015. VGA Output from an FPGA. From the Numato Labs website. First a bit about VGA signals. VGA was originally intended to work with CRT monitors. So the standard was built around the working of a CRT monitor. These type of monitors use a Cathode Ray Tube. I took a look at the schematic of the VGA module. You'll notice that there are three pins connecting to the red and green input signal and 2 connecting to the blue input signal. The pi...

https://ashwinnarayan.blogspot.com/2015/01/i3-window-manager-after-7-months.html
Scientia potestas est. - Knowledge is power. Monday, 26 January 2015. I3 Window Manager - After 7 months. So I've been using the i3 window manager for quite a while now. And once in a while I miss some of the functionality that certain programs in Ubuntu provided. Especially some of the functionality of the network settings tool. So just for one evening I decided to switch over to the Gnome Desktop Environment. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Don't Click ;). The Tilt of the ...

Scientia potestas est. - Knowledge is power. Tuesday, 17 June 2014. Microcontrollers and Random Stuff. It's really been ages since I wrote anything significant on my blog. So I think it's time that I breathed some new life into it. I couldn't find much time to write anything during the semester but I think I'll put in some effort to keep this blog updated at least during the holidays. Source: http:/ xkcd.com/927/. My Thoughtful Spot…
My Thoughtful Spot…. An awakening of unvoiced thoughts, feelings and truths. Sunday, January 6, 2013. Let's Try that Again. 8230;my last post addressing the New Year was rather cynical and aloof which really isn’t my style, so let’s begin anew…. Believe me, I’m fully aware the New Year is well underway but I’ve always been a late bloomer. I consistently prove to be ‘a day late a dollar short’ type of person so bear with me as I indulge you with my thoughts on beginning 2013. I’ve given immense vigo...
