This Class Loves to Read. Wednesday, October 17, 2012. The Word Eater by Mary Amato. In the book The Word Eater. Sixth grader Lerner Chance moves to a new town from Wisconsin. She goes to a new school called Cleavland Park Middle School. There she finds a magical worm named Fip. Back at Cleavland Park Middle School there is a club called MPOOE (most powerful ones on earth) and if you are not an MPOOE you are a SLUG (sorry losers under ground). Fip has eaten a lot of other words. Read on to find out!
