things to look at: Studio Output
http://thingstolookat.blogspot.com/2007/06/studio-output_26.html
Things to look at. Editor: Simon Rogers, David Munk. Information design: Michael Robinson. In the current spirit of information design, here is one from the work vault that was done by Michael Robinson over at The Guardian for a supplement the studio created on the worthy subject of global warming. One day I shall ask Michael what he considers to be the definitive book of diagrams as he is a master of his art. His style is certainly similar to Mr Robinson's. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Friday, September 24, 2010. Father Catich and the Serif: An Emendation. This is from your note on Cramsie’s book:. P 43 “Some historians have linked the invention of the Roman serif to the carver’s chisel…. Another more recent theory has linked it to the invention of a square-cut writing implement; not a reed or quill, but a flat brush….”. Father E.M. Catich should be identified as the author of the second theory which is now the preferred one.]. London, John Hogg, 1906), pp. x-xi, has this:. Was a Nazi ...

Interesting concept for a fictitious German football team, FC Wurzburg! Created by US designer Craig Pinto. The logo was designed to resemble the Bavarian Mountains with a contemporary abstract assemble of geometric triangles, that form the mountain range. It is great to see a different spin on the football kit and the triangles are subtle enough to not upset the traditionalist! This fantastic calendar idea was created by Italian design studio muschi&licheni. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Love this minimalist identity by New York design student Jessi Tsai. Japan Society is the leading U.S. organization committed to deepening mutual understanding between the United States and Japan in a global context. The architecture and the staircase inside of the building, located at 47th street and 1st avenue in New York City has been the inspiration for the logo and graphic language. Konstruktive: The 'numerario'
http://konstruktivedesign.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-numerario.html
It's that time of the year when the new year calendars come flying through the studio door, shouting for our attention and hoping to be used instead of the obligatory iCal. The 'numerario' calendar is unique in that it is made up of only numbers, without days, months or years, it is therefore never out of date! 8232;The pages are divided in two so that you can combine any combination of the numbers in order to represent a day or a month in any given year. things to look at: Skyline
http://thingstolookat.blogspot.com/2013/07/skyline.html
Things to look at. It's a classic. Massimo Vignelli. Is one of the greats who is widely documented. But it's a very special moment when you happen to see two issues of Skyline lying around. So here they are. If you want to see more then check out the Flickr. Stream. There's also more to read in Eye60. The Vignelli's gave a D&AD lecture a few years a go where Massimo said that you should never be fashionable, you should be timeless. Skyline is a perfect example of this. شقق مفروشة فى الشرقية.

things to look at: Pegasus
http://thingstolookat.blogspot.com/2014/12/pegasus.html
Things to look at. The highlight of Eye 88. Has to be Pegasus magazine; the Mobil publication running from 1970 – 1985, designed by Derek Birdsall. The combination of minimal layouts, large imagery and Michael Foreman imagery makes it a really interesting publication. Above is my favourite cover. I just don't think you could get away with that much white space in this day and age. Here is my favourite text spread. It's so dense. Here is my favourite Foreman spread. Here is my favourite Foreman pullout.

Things to look at. Wim Crouwel; design hero. Even if you think you've seen it all before, the Design Museum have really come up trumps with their exhibition: Wim Crouwel: A Graphic Odyssey. On from 30 March – 03 July. You can't help but be impressed by a huge wall of the posters we've all seen. It's an epic collection beautifully laid out. We here at Things to Look at particularly appreciated this poster. Links to this post. Stilla: The Greatest Numerals. The numerals are shown in Stilla.
