My Blue Angel Betty Stone: February 2010
http://myblueangelbettystone.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 26, 2010. The Ballad of Thaddeus McMullin. Sandal wearing yuppies enjoy their microbrews in front of Max's Brew Pub as soccer mom's swing by Main Street to pick the kids up from karate class in their PT Cruisers. Closet drunks zip in and out of the local liquor store with brown paper bags and little old ladies in Hoverounds coast up and down the sidewalk at a snails pace. It's business as usual in the dumpy little town of Tigard, a suburb on the outskirts of Portland. We roll our own cig...

My Blue Angel Betty Stone: My Blue Angel
http://myblueangelbettystone.blogspot.com/2010/02/three-months-after-sobering-up-in-rooms.html
Friday, February 19, 2010. Three months after sobering up in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous, I got off the streets, got myself a job and decided to fulfill an old childhood dream. Payday rolled around two weeks later and I beat cleats to my nearest music store, rented a cheap Hohner guitar and began practicing right away. Oh, yes", I thought, "She must be mine.". Well, it's a year later and I can't put the damn thing down! Sometimes I wish I would've picked it up a little earlier in life - But hey!

Grains of Fire: June 2009
http://grainsoffire.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 30, 2009. No 31: Written by Jon. I climbed into bed early and full and pleased with a day spent entirely indoors. We think when we live in our own little castle that we are immune to acting out our sinful nature.why test my patience with living with others when I can live alone and I only have myself to make happy or not happy? My Mom only had 4 more years of life when she was my age. I want them to be years filled with a deep connection with God and those around me. Monday, June 29, 2009.

Grains of Fire: May 2009

Sunday, May 31, 2009. 1 Alix is a little French girl who wears dark denim designer jeans to her gymnastics class and pronounces her name ah-LEEX, and at the age of five bears a certain resemblence to both Audrey Tautou and Sophie Marceau. While waiting for the Funny Bugs class to finish up in the gym, Alix was getting rather antsy. "I'm booooored, Missy Jenny," she said with a disproportionate amount of. And then ran to show it to her parents. C'est coooooool, ça! Friday, May 29, 2009. 1 At Job #1 we ten...

My Blue Angel Betty Stone: Like A Rolling Stone
http://myblueangelbettystone.blogspot.com/2010/02/like-rolling-stone.html
Saturday, February 20, 2010. Like A Rolling Stone. I first started listening to Bob Dylan just out of curiosity. His name was all over the place and I considered myself a music aficionado by that time so I figured I better open my ears to some root music. I was 29. Just sobering up in an Oxford House. So, anyway, I'm upstairs in my cozy little loft trying like hell to drown out the clamor of little children running up and down the stairs when I plug in "Highway 61 Revisited". All those cold nights sleepi...

My Blue Angel Betty Stone: The Meteor Shower
http://myblueangelbettystone.blogspot.com/2010/02/meteor-shower.html
Monday, February 22, 2010. I was seven-years-old the first time I traveled aboard a commercial airliner. My parents had joint custody, so during the summer of 1986 I flew out to visit my father in the quiet little town of Medford, Oregon. We went camping at a beautiful state park on the river and I had a lot of fun playing with the other children who camped in the trailer next to ours. Turns out she lived just five minutes away. Sometime later, I was reunited with my father, who lived on the very same st...

My Blue Angel Betty Stone: Songs of Protest
http://myblueangelbettystone.blogspot.com/2010/02/having-grown-up-with-rich-knowledge-of.html
Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Having grown up with a heady knowledge of the Great Depression, listening to the songs of Woodie Guthrie and Pete Seeger, Robert Zimmerman had a generation's old vision of America: a country of poor, underprivileged, hardworking people at odds with the growing conflict amongst the Labor Unions. Is it possible that our generation will face another Great Depression? Have we learned so little from history that we must repeat it again and again? Posted by Bryan Lake Portland Oregon.

My Blue Angel Betty Stone: Beatrice "Beatty" Stone
http://myblueangelbettystone.blogspot.com/2010/02/beatrice-beatty-stone.html
Saturday, February 20, 2010. By now you're probably wondering where I got the name "Betty Stone" and just what the hell has she got to do with any of this? Well, I had recently applied for a job at About.com for a position writing a detailed archive about the life and times and tempestuous career of Bob Dylan. Thing is, in order to apply for the job, you had to complete a 500 word sample. Now, let's get this right. As an infant", Dylan recounts, "I crawled beneath the piano while Aaron Copland polished h...
