Raising backyard chickens on a suburban homestead. We adopted our first Great Pyrenees, Zeke, before we had chickens but were not surprised when he turned out to be very gentle and respectful of them. It was very interesting to witness how the dog’s instincts led him to act as a protector while most dogs would only see “dinner.”. Where the dogs go, the chickens follow. January 29, 2014. Three Sisters | 3sistersfarmchick
https://3sistersfarmchick.wordpress.com/2014/01/24/three-sisters
Raising backyard chickens on a suburban homestead. Our first chickens were inseparable. They loved to be around people and would come onto the deck in the morning to knock on the door…These three “sisters” included 2 sex-links and 1 Barred Rock. They set the stage for a love and appreciation of chickens. Scratch, Boo Boo, and Strut knocking on the door. January 24, 2014. Laquo; Previous Post. Next Post ». One thought on “ Three Sisters. Raising backyard chickens on a suburban homestead. Standard chicken waterer on the left, feeder on the right. The second waterer we used was an improvement but not ideal for temperatures below freezing. I was so proud that I made it myself, using directions I found on my favorite blog for all things chicken: http:/ www.the-chicken-chick.com/. Homemade chicken waterer on the right, feeder on the left. January 30, 2014. Laquo; Previous Post. Next Post ». 6 thoughts on “ Break the Ice. Jessie, I am positive...

The coop that Jack built. | 3sistersfarmchick
https://3sistersfarmchick.wordpress.com/2014/03/16/the-coop-that-jack-built
Raising backyard chickens on a suburban homestead. The coop that Jack built. Our first chicken coop. A-frame design chicken coop. My husband did an amazing job picking a spot in our yard where the coop would get enough sunlight in the winter but not too much in the summer. Many of the breeds we have in New England that are tolerant of cold weather do not do as well in the heat. Note the small section of roofing panels in the back – this is to allow light into the back section of the coop. March 16, 2014.
