Adventures of a life well traveled. Happy New Year from the Elgers! Make your own picture collage. Joey, Elizabeth, and Niall. TIS Moment of the Year. While I'm sure we will still be surprised and amazed at everything Saipan, we really feel like this might be a contender for TIS ("This is Saipan") Moment of the Year.Who knows? We may not be going back to school on Monday after all. The school's power and water could be disconnected! Govt agencies lose power, water. Central govt owes $2.5M in utilities.

Saipandemonium: Top Chef: Saipan
http://saipandemonium.blogspot.com/2010/10/top-chef-saipan.html
Adventures of a life well traveled. So, I'm not much of a cook. Let me re-phrase, I wasn't much of a cook before moving to Saipan. When you're on a budget (a real. One), you begin to figure out how to do things that save money. Necessity is after all the mother of invention. Cooking has become one of those necessities for us. And, turns out, I actually enjoy it. Funny! Okay, so she's not professional, but she did take culinary school classes, and she's a phenomenal chef! Joey, Elizabeth, and Niall. If yo...

(For example, next Tuesday is Election Day and next Thursday is Commonwealth Day) While a Tuesday and two Thursdays off are appreciated, a three day weekend sure would be nice…. Dad emailed us about Cornelia, GA being featured in the latest edition of Time. Joey, Elizabeth, and Niall. One), you begin to figure out how to do things that save m...

Adventures of a life well traveled. We Feel You, Habersham! As a winter storm battered the Southern United States, we too in Saipan experienced a weather phenomenon of epic proportions. Roads were closed, power was shut off, tow-trucks were stopped in their tracks, and kids were wearing hooded sweatshirts and close-toed shoes. THREEcount them…THREE…. That’s right…THREE…straight days of rain! Pray for us as we wait for paradise to resume normal programming. Joey, Elizabeth, and Niall. Welcome to our blog!

Adventures of a life well traveled. Senior Night, Saipan Style. Saturday concluded the fall sports season for MISO (Marianas Inter-Scholastic Sports Organization). While some high school football fans were covered up with blankets, we were watching basketball in an air-conditioned gym while it was 85 degrees outside! The fall sports calendar consisted of cross country, baseball, men’s volleyball, basketball cheerleading, and women’s basketball. Fifteen seniors were recognized, and about 6 of them walked ...

Saipandemonium: Colleen's Birthday
http://saipandemonium.blogspot.com/2011/03/colleens-birthday.html
Adventures of a life well traveled. I definitely feel like she is the "older, more mature friend" in the relationship, but alas, she is 3 years younger than I. God brought some pretty special people in the world during the month of February, and Colleen Manion O'Laughlin is one of them. In case you don't know, Brian and Colleen take entertaining to the extreme. Visit their blog and read about their Thanksgiving party. The bus, complete with a horn that sounds like a Cock-a-doodle-do! First stop, the Boss!

Adventures of a life well traveled. This post goes out to all my Raider cheerleading family members (current ones, past ones, and parents of both). I just concluded the first cheerleading tryout ever at Marianas High School. One alum of MHS and now current teacher told me yesterday, she doesn't think there's ever been real cheerleading in the whole Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands! And, then Miley Cyrus had to come on, and the tears just start flowing! Just gotta keep going. And I know you ha...
