this old farm

Sunday, February 3, 2013. So, it's been a while. So many reasons,. My camera and my computer aren't speaking,. I didn't have much to share,. Was it time to press the big delete button on the blog? Tomorrow, for the third time.the barn will be empty. A cattle barn without cows. Dairy farmers without jobs. There are just so many of those these days. The language of farmers, so bittersweet. He's shutting it down. He's hanging it up. Where will the cows go? What's he gonna do? Will they stay on the farm?

this old farm: Rhubarb Dream Bars

http://thisoldfarm.blogspot.com/2011/06/rhubarb-dream-bars.html

Thursday, June 2, 2011. The last few years I've been on the lookout for a good rhubarb recipe, and I've tried out a whole lot of them. Goofy concoctions with cake mixes and packages of jello.not exactly my cup of tea. When I saw this recipe on Pioneer Woman's Tasty Kitchen website I figured what the heck, I thought it was just too easy to be good, but goodness gracious was I ever wrong! In a word, yum. It happens, I'll admit it. 3/4 cups powdered sugar. 4 cups diced rhubarb. 4 Bake 15 minutes at 325.

Friday, October 28, 2011. Deer hunting season is over.phew. Unfortunately those dastardly hunters always leave a few bits and pieces scattered around the property. An arrow here, a few other things there.and legs.Bergie always seems to think that she needs to bring legs back to the cabin to show me what a good little hunter she is. I tell her what a good girl she is, and then I encourage her to bury it. Wish those hunters were as neat and tidy as my dog. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Buy too many magazines.

Friday, March 25, 2011. You need to blog". You need to blog". That's what a longtime friend told me yesterday, but the old Bloggie. Buzzard seems to have landed here at this old farm. Nearly every day I think of a topic to blog about but they get dismissed as too negative, too close to ranting, or dull. then something pretty pops into my line of sight and I think I should turn into a little post about the pretty thing but it gets dismissed. Blogland. Of course it's not all work and no play around here&#4...

My Little Alpaca and Goat Shop. Lessons and adventures of a former city girl trying desperately to be a farm girl and fiber artist. Thursday, August 2, 2012. Check out my new kitchen floor! Isn't it just gorgeous? Now before you start the paperwork on having me committed I have to confess something. It's not my new floor at all, in fact, it's the original flooring that came with the house. I don't really hate it and it's certainly better than the 1970's vinyl faux-adobe brick that was on there.

My Little Alpaca and Goat Shop. Lessons and adventures of a former city girl trying desperately to be a farm girl and fiber artist. Monday, December 15, 2014. It's hard to believe that Christmas is just 10 short days away. I confess. I don't care. I care - but not for the right reasons. This job I have sucks any remnant of joy I might manage to muster for the season. I care because that means I am 10 days closer to having some sort of normalacy return to my world. I was NOT having fun. I choose to believe.

My Little Alpaca and Goat Shop. Lessons and adventures of a former city girl trying desperately to be a farm girl and fiber artist. Wednesday, August 20, 2014. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to attend the Portland Street of Dreams. For those of you not in the know, it's 5 or 6 homes in the million dollar plus range that are open to the public. For a not-nominal fee you can just wander around through them admiring and in theory, coveting, the million dollar lifestyle. But that is just my...

My Little Alpaca and Goat Shop. Lessons and adventures of a former city girl trying desperately to be a farm girl and fiber artist. Monday, March 31, 2014. So I had this trailer. This trailer represented so many good things and so many good times. I brought it to Lynden in 2011. It has sat in the barn for the last three years being used as storage. Peter and I never took it out. Never used it. It was time to let it go. I considered selling it but I couldn't. How could I sell it? We finally got inside the...

My quest to raise awareness for Scleroderma by becoming an Ironman triathlete. Monday, July 5, 2010. Soooo…. How ya been? Have you ever been so busy that you forgot to do something really important? Anecdotal ramblings of bemused homeowners concerning the. Restoration work on their 300 year old farmhouse. Thursday, July 8, 2010. The This Old Farm House which almost wasn't anymore. A few years ago, one of the first projects we completed at ThisOldFarmHouse was the installation of an electric tankless hot water heater. However, I digress. September 28, 2012 by this old farm house. It is a bit sad to write this post. I am writing from our new house in Austin, TX. Yes, we moved to Austin. It was a labor of love.
