This Side of the City

This Side of the City. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. So, the journey continues as I embark on a new era, of sorts. And what are our lives if not a minuscule series of eras that dovetail into each other, creating the entirety of our existence? One experience meshes into the next, and if we're fortunate, we learn from the past, whether that past was rife with mistake or triumph. I move forward through this curious, often quaint, sometimes painful, and occasionally glorious life. Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

This Side of the City: olio

http://thissideofthecity.blogspot.com/2008/09/olio.html

This Side of the City. Monday, September 01, 2008. This makes my parts hurt. I can see where my mind and life were at a certain point in time, and I might laugh, or cringe, or shrug. My new favorite website? It's the brilliant and riotous "The Nietzsche Family Circus." The site is exactly what it says: it combines the wholesome, cloying family drones of "The Family Circus" with the quotes of German firebrand philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. A warm week awaits. Summer's last gasp. perhaps. We ...

This Side of the City: September 2005

http://thissideofthecity.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html

This Side of the City. Thursday, September 15, 2005. I also put up new blinds in the living room. The old blinds were. well, they were decrepit and god-awful grimy. But home improvements are underway (painting soon), and let's leave it at that. Okay, my litany of woe is over. Where was I? Oh, right - I was splayed on the couch earlier, flipping the channels, passing by insipid programs and some guy called Bush on the networks. And there on. There are some things you can't hide. Tell me what's on your mind.

This Side of the City: May 2005

http://thissideofthecity.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html

This Side of the City. Tuesday, May 24, 2005. The radio alarm clock sounds off. The sun trickles through the blinds. The final song before Howard Stern draws to a close. I got five hours of sleep, but I knew that when I shut off my light at 12:47. I wipe drool from the corner of my mouth and try to figure out in what peculiar universe I currently exist. That means I have to go to work. The high-pitched "the coffee is ready, schmuck" beeps sound in the kitchen. I arise from the desk and meander out. Dammi...

This Side of the City: July 2005

http://thissideofthecity.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html

This Side of the City. Saturday, July 30, 2005. Last night I attended the 2005 Latino Film Festival. For a screening of Iván Ávila Dueñas. Adán y Eva (todavía). Or (in "Americanese"),. Adam and Eve (Still). It had been a long time - years, in fact - since I had sat in a theater and watched avant-garde cinema projected on a movie screen. The last time might have been when I was in film school and went to one of Dominic Angerame. Director Dueñas prefers static shots to convey this panoptic ennui. His p...

This Side of the City: April 2005

This Side of the City. Monday, April 25, 2005. So, again, when does spring arrive? You claim it already has? You don't say. So the few days of truly spring-like weather we've eked out were just an aberration? Posted by Walls Falling at 9:44 PM. Sunday, April 17, 2005. Tour with the Butthole Surfers), the band continued to play. Yeah, it could be described as a "bad scene," but in fact, it was exhilarating. And no, I did not participate in the forcible removal of turf, but I flirted with the idea&...So th...

This Side of the Creek. Where mental health is a priority. Living Without: How Losing A Loved One Can Change You. November 27, 2014 by mcreek. Following the recent passing of my father much has been swirling around in my mind. This Side of The Diaper. One Guy's Experiences as a Stay at Home Dad. July 28, 2015. Bella was a good girl. There wasn’t a day that went by for the last 12 years that I didn’t say the words, “Bella is a good girl.” They were sometimes the first words I said in the morning, besides “I love you,” or “Good Morning,” or “Where are the covers? 8221; I guess it is fitting that they were the last words I said to the sweetest dog ever as she slipped out of a world that had become painful and tired. May 11, 2015 · 8:20 pm. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to AO…. As you know from earlier posts, I am an Ambleside Online girl. I love the organization of the materials, love the Advisory and the many women who give of themselves to make things run smoothly and I love the community! However… (ahem)… I have found that I don’t love some of the selected books. I won’t go into detail at this point, but suffice it to say that some of the selections have felt a bit… stodgy? 8230; or a bit… dry? It’s bee...
