Seasons of Life: The Stork Is Coming!
http://seasonsoflife.blogspot.com/2005/06/stork-is-coming.html
There is a time for everything and everything on earth has its special season." - Eccl. 3:1 (NCV). Thursday, June 30, 2005. The Stork Is Coming! Today, we finally received the long-awaited referral for the adoption of our second daughter (tentatively named Jocelyn which means "joyful, happy"). The only sadness is that she will not have the chance to meet her grandfather. So, we anticipate her arrival in Canada SOON, Lord willing! Posted by Seasons of Life at 1:25 PM. Drop me a line. Time is of the Essence.

Seasons of Life: Hotel Room
http://seasonsoflife.blogspot.com/2005/03/hotel-room.html
There is a time for everything and everything on earth has its special season." - Eccl. 3:1 (NCV). Sunday, March 20, 2005. After reading my various blog entries, a good friend shared with me a great quote, "A person does not spend time decorating the hotel room where he/she goes to spend the night.". We as Christians "ought" to know that our lives here on earth are only but a temporary "stop" on our journey that lasts for an eternity. Yet, do we live as we really believe this? Drop me a line.

Seasons of Life: Operating from Pain
http://seasonsoflife.blogspot.com/2005/03/operating-from-pain.html
There is a time for everything and everything on earth has its special season." - Eccl. 3:1 (NCV). Thursday, March 17, 2005. I have a theory that people operate mostly from a position of pain. What does this mean? Everyone has some motivation in their lives for what they do and for how they react. If you dig deeply, right down to the core, the answer is often emptiness or "existential dread" (as Thomas Merton says). To deal with this fear, there are several possible reactions:. Or for the family person, ...

Seasons of Life: Oops...We Did It Again
http://seasonsoflife.blogspot.com/2005/07/oopswe-did-it-again.html
There is a time for everything and everything on earth has its special season." - Eccl. 3:1 (NCV). Sunday, July 03, 2005. OopsWe Did It Again. Why are we adopting again? Especially since Paul has aplastic anemia? Well, it's a faith that things will turn out okay. Paul has made a remarkable recovery, considering that a year ago, he was literally at death's door. However, we cannot live life in fear of what may happen. Even if he was perfectly healthy, an accident could remove him from our lives.

There is a time for everything and everything on earth has its special season." - Eccl. 3:1 (NCV). Thursday, July 22, 2004. In the local newsrag (as sometimes what it prints is only fit for being a rag! Was about the exploding popularity of blogs (such as what you're reading now! Blogging has been characterized as narcissistic, voyeuristic, self-indulgent (how else do you have such a widely captive audience) and for some, cathartic. Well, that last term sounded like a good bowel movement! Speaking of whi...

Seasons of Life: June 2004

There is a time for everything and everything on earth has its special season." - Eccl. 3:1 (NCV). Wednesday, June 16, 2004. Why trials in our lives? The answer: Why not me? Weeding - an unpleasant task. Those pesky darned things seem to grow in the most inconvenient places. Places we are trying to present to the public, or not. Yes, we can appear to the outside world to be "good" but inside of our hearts and deepest thoughts are those pesky "weeds". Thus, trials to "weed" these out. Friday, June 11, 2004.

Seasons of Life: Rage, rage against the dying of the light
http://seasonsoflife.blogspot.com/2005/06/rage-rage-against-dying-of-light.html
There is a time for everything and everything on earth has its special season." - Eccl. 3:1 (NCV). Tuesday, June 28, 2005. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Those were the words in the closing of Paul's eulogy to his father today. Paul did a great job and was able to finish it without completely breaking down. It's all been so surreal, my father-in-law's sudden death. Christ came to save sinners (I Timothy 1:15). What is the hope of life after death? Or just a comfort to those left behind?

Seasons of Life: Giving versus Receiving
http://seasonsoflife.blogspot.com/2005/03/giving-versus-receiving.html
There is a time for everything and everything on earth has its special season." - Eccl. 3:1 (NCV). Wednesday, March 30, 2005. At our local church's weekly mom's discussion group, the topic today was "giving vs. receiving". Which is easier? Often, we are not able to give joyfully or unconditionally unless we ourselves are filled emotionally, spiritually, sometimes materially. Our gifts may have unspoken conditions attached, e.g. I have given you this gift; therefore you must respect and love me.
