An aging Baby Boomer's random musings. Friday, November 6, 2009. I only know what I've read online about the Panhandle, so am discovering it for the first time this winter. I'll share what I find, as I find it, with you. To start, the sand and ocean are unlike any other place I've seen. The ocean glistens emerald green/teal blue/aqua and the sand is pure sugar. History of our Sand. The unique sand of the beaches in the Destin area is among the whitest and most homogenous of the world. Links to this post.

An aging Baby Boomer's random musings. Monday, October 26, 2009. Burning the Midnight Oil. I love being retired. I can do whatever I want whenever I want for as long as I want. (Is that even gramatically correct? But I've kind of settled into a semi-schedule for waking and sleeping. I'm usually asleep by 10 or 10:30PM and awake by 7 or 7:30AM. People activity, even if I'm not involved in it, I don't. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Atlanta and Chicago, Georgia and Illinois, United States.

An aging Baby Boomer's random musings. Tuesday, October 13, 2009. It can be a challenge to find somewhere peaceful and pretty to walk in suburbia. I'm not a fan of stepping out the door just to spend the next hour or so passing house after driveway after yard of a typical suburban neighborhood. With cars whizzing by. It's a great path for biking or walking, stopping to rest, having a picnic lunch, or reading and people-watching! Links to this post. Searching for a Winter Place. With a budget for this:.

An aging Baby Boomer's random musings. Sunday, September 20, 2009. Today I have lived 59 years and eight months, exactly. Sixty Septembers. Not counting the one in vitro. Not that this is of any significance to anyone else, other than maybe my mother, since this means she has aged to 84. Although she can't remember. On second thought, I really feel some age. 28, having long ago healed and deemed the ensuing character growth the best thing to have happened to me. Other than having and raising my son.

An aging Baby Boomer's random musings. Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Nature Addiction Part Two. So upon returning to the Prairie State, I've searched out my own little nature walks. You've already seen the Prairie Path (or at least parts of it from Crystal Lake to Algonquin) in a prior post; here is Huntley Park. The walking path encircles the park and weaves through a tiny bit of wooded area on one side. It's gently hilled and there is a little pond in the center upon which float Canadian geese. To Grandmo...

An aging Baby Boomer's random musings. Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Ok, I've described the rental process (somewhat), my trip down, my first impressions and later ones of the unit and area, so here are photos of the inside of my winter rental. Click on "winter rental" preceding this sentence, if you are unfamiliar with live links.). And notice how it doesn't look like a cave from these pictures (probably because most of the lights are on! An aging Baby Boomer's random musings. Thursday, October 22, 2009. It Was a Dark and Stormy Night. More exciting than the gray and drizzly day we are having. If it's going to rain, I'd prefer a thunderstorm with lightning. Then instead of feeling cooped up, you feel warm and cozy and safe inside. This morning I vowed before leaving the house I would just take a quick peek at email and the temp so I'd know how to dress. Uh huh. That was at 8:45. It is now 2:33. And out the back window. Sixty Septembers: Flowers in the City
http://sixtyseptembers.blogspot.com/2010/08/flowers-in-city.html
An aging Baby Boomer's random musings. Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Flowers in the City. Some people have this impression that the city is all concrete. Maybe many cities are, but Chicago is known for its lakefront beaches and biking/jogging path (some 20 miles of it north to south) completely dedicated to the recreation of its citizens (no shipping, commercial industry), its parks, and its FLOWERS! These are a sampling some of the flowering planters and landscaped areas around the city. Yes, Chicago was on...
