Hoddesdon Crownsmen

The Hoddesdon Crownsmen have retired. Mysteriously none of us is getting any younger, and with no new members we can't dance out as much as we should. We've had a great time dancing in the Albert Hall and on TV, touring abroad, and showing the others how it should be done, so we've decided to quit while we're ahead. Thanks to everyone who's supported us over the years. Danced rapper, a traditional form of dance from the North East of England, as well as performing morris jigs and a mummers' play.

Monday Musicians meet once a month to play English and other folk dance music, led by Thomas Bending. With occasional guest leaders. We meet at Cecil Sharp House, Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY, UK, monthly from 7pm - 10pm on the second Monday of every month except August, so the next few sessions are Mon 12 Sep 2016, Mon 10 Oct 2016 and Mon 14 Nov 2016. We play for pleasure and to swap tunes, and for many years at Christmas we played for the EFDSS. And get information on the tunes as a CSV file.

I'm a combinatorial mathematician at Middlesex University. In north London, England. I'm married to Rachel, a Methodist minister, and we live in Ealing in west London. I play, dance and call mostly English folk music and dances. My main instrument's the recorder, but I also play 5-string banjo and piano, and sing. My arsenal of recorders is into double figures, which seems rather a lot for someone with only one mouth, but mostly I play a Moeck. I play with Momentum. I'm interested in puzzles.
