The 56 Mile TT (Outlaw Half Relay) | Thoughts of a novice cyclist
https://thomaswhatley.wordpress.com/2015/06/01/the-56-mile-tt-outlaw-half-relay
Thoughts of a novice cyclist. Reflecting on my first season racing. The 56 Mile TT (Outlaw Half Relay). June 1, 2015. June 10, 2015. Something a bit different this weekend. Bit of a hangover from my triathlon days, I had entered this Half Iron distance race (1.1m swim/56m bike/13.1m run) with the intention of doing it as my main race for the year, before having decided to just concentrate just on cycling. Day before, calm before the storm, literally. I made sure I was ready as he jogged into transition a...

Thoughts of a novice cyclist. Reflecting on my first season racing. June 29, 2015. June 29, 2015. Well after last weeks pretty upbeat post, this one will probably not read so positively (read boring), mostly because its been a pretty confusing and frustrating weekend. Embarrasingly I pootled back to HQ to return my number in exchange for my license. At the time I was just confused, annoyed and frustrated. I went back to the car and led on the grass in the sun trying to clear the negativity out. Moved bac...
SL Cutmill 3rds – 10th | Thoughts of a novice cyclist
https://thomaswhatley.wordpress.com/2015/06/15/sl-cutmill-3rds-11th
Thoughts of a novice cyclist. Reflecting on my first season racing. SL Cutmill 3rds – 10th. June 15, 2015. June 16, 2015. Never say never. Last time I raced at Cutmill I saidI wouldn’t go back, as the course just didn’t suit me. I realise now that’s just not true. We were soon going again after a quick stop and the pace was still fairly high. 2nd time up the hill and Ed tried an attack, which was again shut down after a fairly short period of time. We went round for another lap, and instead of waiting fo...

Thoughts of a novice cyclist. Reflecting on my first season racing. SL Kitsmead Handicap, SL Cyclopark 2/3 and Crystal Palace Crits 3/4. August 5, 2015. Couple of races since my last update on here, a Handicap, a RR on a circuit and the infamous CP Crits. An average race, feeling ok, and considering against Elite and 1st Cats at the end, I was probably never getting a result. Strava: https:/ www.strava.com/activities/357596358. Avg Speed: 25.9mph. Dom went on to finish 4th, another great result for him.

Thoughts of a novice cyclist. Reflecting on my first season racing. I’ve moved, again. August 31, 2015. SL Sharpethorne 3rd Cat. August 24, 2015. August 24, 2015. Another SL 3rd Cat race, this time hosted by Crawley Wheelers on the Sharpethorne circuit. I’m still yet to lock down any sort of race preparation regime prior to road races on Sunday. My usual in the past has been a day of Friday, followed by an easy spin in the park Saturday to keep the legs turning. Avg Speed: 20.2mph. August 20, 2015. Been ...

From Redhill to Gipsy Hill | First Season Racing
https://firstseasonracing.com/2015/06/25/from-redhill-to-gipsy-hill
Blog on amateur racing by Rob Sharland. From Redhill to Gipsy Hill. Been an eventful couple of weekends race wise, I was really happy with how I was coming along, and had a couple of events I was keen to test myself on. And secondly because some pratt scattered drawing pins all over the finish area which ended a lot riders day and could have been really dangerous. And were around 8 strong, but not everyone was coming through, some people were totally frazzled and I was conscious that though I felt good, ...
