Thom Gorst's blog

Monday, 10 August 2015. PRESSURE - BLOW OUT. When I was a student of architecture in the late 'seventies, we all favoured those tea-chest stencils. I imagine most of us liked them because of their earlier use by Le Corbusier (then, truly worshipped by students and staff). I also liked them because they were used extensively in the artist Tom Phillips' work. When I was doing my Master's in art at Sussex, he came down to give a lecture, and I asked him where he got his set from. These are both made on mari...

Thom Gorst's blog: THE LEAVING OF LIVERPOOL

http://www.thomgorst.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-leaving-of-liverpool.html

Tuesday, 23 June 2015. THE LEAVING OF LIVERPOOL. A break or interruption in the continuity of a work, series, action, etc.". I have never experienced one of these before, but I have found it very difficult re-engaging with praxis since the two shows I had late last year. They were in Falmouth in September and at the ViewTwo Gallery in Liverpool in November. Compared to a really encouraging earlier run in London and home here in Bath, in these two places I sold nothing. I have at times ceased to identify ...

Thom Gorst's blog: ARSE IN LONDON SHOW

http://www.thomgorst.blogspot.com/2014/11/arse-in-london-show.html

Wednesday, 19 November 2014. ARSE IN LONDON SHOW. My latest piece is for the annual charity auction at the Anise Gallery. It is called Arse, and here it is with the gallery caption:. In the distance, something red moves past very slowly. I see the letters ARSE, but I can't tell if it's a word, or just a part of a word. I am very inspired. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thom Gorst's blog: YOUR CORRESPONDENT GETS A NEW QUALIFICATION

http://www.thomgorst.blogspot.com/2015/04/your-correspondent-gets-new.html

Friday, 24 April 2015. YOUR CORRESPONDENT GETS A NEW QUALIFICATION. Yesterday I became a fully qualified . I 'danced in' with the Bathampton Morris Men, and was awarded the rosettes that we wear on our fronts and backs by the Squire of the side. I am immensely proud of having achieved this: I first joined the Bathampton men in October 2013, and so I have been through two winter practice seasons, and last year's summer season out and about in the pubs around Bath. Driving a car: 7 months.

Thom Gorst's blog: REMEMBRANCE OF THE SEAFARERS ON ALL SIDES WHO PERISHED

http://www.thomgorst.blogspot.com/2014/11/remembrance-of-seafarers-on-all-sides.html

Saturday, 1 November 2014. REMEMBRANCE OF THE SEAFARERS ON ALL SIDES WHO PERISHED. I have just finished this great painting in time for the show in Liverpool, which opens on 13th November. I say 'great', because it is one of the largest pieces I've made - 1m square - but also because it's been a long time in the making, and I'm very proud of it. It has rivets - I researched into shipyard riveting before I made them - and they are clogged up with puddings of paint, and rust seeps through from below. I hav...

Tuesday, December 19, 2006. Throw one down for the little guys. If only Denny’s would do the same with the Grand Slam Breakfast so I could actually see to eat my bacon and eggs. You can only miss your mouth so many times before the hosts ask you to leave. My ex-wife Guinevere always warned me to stop dropping eggs on the floor of the house or she’d leave me. Posted by Dr. Thom Gonzaugh at 3:49 PM. Links to this post. Saturday, October 21, 2006. Sit down and sail on. Good day and God speed, friends.

Thom Grasso – RC zonne vliegtuig project

RC zonne vliegtuig project.
