Talking with Children about Art. June 5, 2013 · 8:19 am. Inspired by reading about permaculture, I decided to build a herb spiral. I needed to relocate herbs from the front of the house, and thought this spiral bed would work well close to the back door. There is a lot of information online about how to build a spiral bed like this, as well as the ideal arrangement of herbs to accommodate different growing conditions. Up in the veggie patch. And on a fine day, what could be nicer? Tagged as herb garden.

Talking with Children about Art. June 6, 2013 · 8:06 pm. They’re over there. First shorts. First shorts of the summer. First shorts ever for Little R. First sewing project in ages. I made them using this wonderful pattern and tutorial. It’s a pattern for pants with many variations, shorts being one. Though you can’t tell from these pictures, the shorts have an elastic waist with a flat front, which is a nice touch. I am definitely making more. Next up are some shorts with pockets! Our chickens have been spending time in the “goat pen” (time to move on and call it the chicken pen, I guess! I read about somebody chucking their veggie scraps in the blender and chopping them up for their chickens so I thought I’d try that. It was very popular!
