It isn't a fancy space, its a work space and I couldn't be more pleased with it! I will move the machines around as I need to for each job. Thread Racks, with room for customers. The Bernina 950. I've got it set up for free-motion embroidery. I need to get a video. Links to this post. Thursday, June 25, 2015. Links to this post.

Thoughts From a Seamstress: October 2014

http://thoughtsfromaseamstress.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Thoughts From a Seamstress. Diane Slade Inc, established 2003. Tuesday, October 14, 2014. My scores for the 1/2 scale challenge. I just got my 1/2 scale dressform, garments and scores back in the mail. OUCH! I really don't mind any of the scores about fashionable or creative. I don't feel especially strong in those areas. But the construction scores, 2.5 and 3, yup those sting a little. And I really don't get the comment. I don't ever want anything to look homemade, handmade? Like a button or raggedy hem?

Thoughts From a Seamstress. Diane Slade Inc, established 2003. Thursday, June 25, 2015. Recycled Tshirts into a shirt for me! I've been meaning to make this t shirt from Butterick and Connie Crawford. For quite a while. I'm working on using my coverstitch on the BabyLock so this was good practice. I goofed on the shoulder and caught part of the pattern from one of the shirts, but I'll wear it anyway! Links to this post. Thursday, June 18, 2015. Getting all the machines up and running. Thoughts From a Seamstress. Diane Slade Inc, established 2003. Saturday, May 23, 2015. Best scissors for deconstructing jeans. I'm a big fan of Fiskars. At last year's Sewing Expo. In Novi, MI I purchased the above spring loaded 7" heavy duty power shears. From the Kai booth. I noticed them when I was saying hello to an amazing sewer, Rosebud. I meant them to replace the small 5" blades that I use, but their blunt tip makes this not a good trade off. (I won a pair of Kai shears in the 2008 PFF.

Thoughts From a Seamstress: My Half Scale Challenge entry

http://thoughtsfromaseamstress.blogspot.com/2014/10/my-half-scale-challenge-entry.html

Thoughts From a Seamstress. Diane Slade Inc, established 2003. Saturday, October 4, 2014. My Half Scale Challenge entry. I knew I wouldn't win, but I had so much fun. I'll do it again next year and maybe get fancier. The ball gowns won, of course. Next year's inspiration is '50 shades of red'. Look on my examiner.com. My inspiration was Natalie Chanin of Alabama Chanin. I took her class on Craftsy, Hand-Embellishing Knit Fabric: Stenciling, Appliqué, Beading and Embroidery. And bought her books. Good hea...

How to Sew a Baby Hem On Delicate Fabrics. Baby Hem On Delicate Fabrics. A baby hem is a very small rolled hem done on the machine without using a rolled hem foot. It is perfect for any lightweight, soft silky, sheer fabrics. The hem is double turned with narrow 1/8” – ¼” turns. The following was on a purchased short dress that was 5” too long. The front had such a bias that I did not trust myself pre-cutting before hemming. The steps here differ slightly from the norm. Press along marked hemline. Classe...

Seam 2 Seam: December 2012

http://seam2seam.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

My group of 4-H. Children learning to sew love to save the selvedge strips and left over scraps to make long "tails". Somehow this morphed into a ball which we quickly named, Paige's Tail, for one of our favorite sewing buddies, Paige. Paige loves to tie one long piece to her belt loop and walk around with it dragging behind her. Slowly the ball grew. Each week new tails were tied on to the last tail end. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures before leaving, SEW these were taken in the car. ). A tailor...

Fast Method to Solve Your Problems. This is one of my favorite videos at the moment. After you finish laughing, you may find it valuable to ponder the wisdom of this approach. I’m thinking it is not as silly as it seems. I Want To Be Like Chili Palmer. In my favorite scenes from the film, Chili and Karen are involved in a scary confrontation with a bad guy and Chili almost falls to his death. Thoughts from a Skolex. Thoughts from a worm about Life, Truth, and meaning. Saturday, February 13, 2010. A Formula to Success? First, it seems to me that the very people Christ healed, ministered to, preached to, and beckoned to come were the ones who were yelling “Crucify Him!
