Thoughts from Karenland

Tuesday, October 28, 2014. The People of Walmart. I saw the parody of Jim Carey dancing to the song Chandeliers. And when the song played on the radio on Monday morning I burst out laughing—I could not help but visualize the flailing and indelicacy of Carey’s motions. Yesterday on The View. Each co-host expressed that they have difficulty conversing with actors and actresses (and sometime politicians) after having seen them (the actors and politicians) naked on the screen. Pictures often polute the mind.

Thoughts from Karenland: January 2014

http://thoughtsfromkarenland.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 28, 2014. A Glass of Merlot (and Hershel). Over a glass of Merlot she confessed: It never occurred to me when I took that part time job all those years ago that I would end up as the breadwinner of the family. She had envisioned something different for herself—a scheduled weekly facial rather than a scheduled weekly checkbook massage. An economic downturn could not have been predicted in her forecast. She resented her circumstance. In a zombie-filled world (or not. Survival depends on it.

Thoughts from Karenland: April 2014

http://thoughtsfromkarenland.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Maria Ramos (not her real name) sat gleefully with 6 acceptance letters to medical school: Columbia, Cornell, NYU, U Penn, Downstate and Syracuse. I sat next to her with zero letters even though my GPA, MCAT scores, and extracurricular activities exceeded hers. And the degree of burn was exacerbated by the fact that no matter which medical school she chose to attend, the tuition would be waived or reduced. Maria hadn’t competed for a seat- the seats were competing for her. Profes...

Thoughts from Karenland: March 2014

http://thoughtsfromkarenland.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Changes to the SAT. The professor said at orientation: The biggest difference between college courses and graduate school courses is the rigor of the testing. While multiple choice exams are the assessment of choice in undergraduate classes, multiple-multiple choice exams are the assessment of choice in post graduate classes. It was a whole new layer of choice. Correct answers, which one, if any or some or all or neither tipped the scale into fully. The college board finally figu...

Thoughts from Karenland: June 2014

http://thoughtsfromkarenland.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 24, 2014. I was prompted 100% by vanity. The inconspicuous anomaly marred my reflection. Because while there was a little something-something a bit irregular in shape which itched and was located in an area on my chest that had been subject to repeated sunburn for the last 54 years , that growth. The biopsy report concluded that the chest thingy I thought was positively something turned out to be positively nothing; and the vanity-prompted teeny tiny perfectly round barely visible in the 20...

Thoughts from Karenland: February 2014

http://thoughtsfromkarenland.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Everything is a Thing. She grumpily said in her hardcore upstate New York accent: When did everything get so God damned complicated? She was referring to the fact that her son had painstakingly and obsessively compulsively spelled out “Will you marry me” in Skittles in a courtyard in a Boston park. He then orchestrated an audience of family and friends to hide behind nearby trees and bushes to photograph, videograph and witness the surprise proposal. I could not help but giggle.

Some Recent Ramblings

Don't be guilty of "Read and Run" - Comment me and let me know what you think! Saturday, May 3, 2008. There are many reasons why I live in and love Orange County:. The weather is almost always perfect, there’s a Starbucks on every corner and almost any store you could name that exists west of the Rockies is within a 5 mile radius of my office. Any those same reasons are why I need to get out of the County every few weeks:. Don’t get me wrong. I love the weather, I love my. E’s the Bucksnort”. We walked i...

Just another WordPress.com site. I hate doing it as well because I am a self critic. What if I spend all this time typing and then no one likes it? What if I don’t get any views? Tangents are quite popular with ADHD minds. The thoughts that are always cruising in and out of a mind with ADHD never seem to stay in focus long enough to talk about it. If the mind gets lucky enough to trap one, about five minutes later the trap is reset and that thought flies away to be replaced my another. I never knew what ...

Thoughts From Joshua Ryan

Thoughts From Joshua Ryan. Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Career Advice From A Navajo. I’ve almost done it though. I submitted to the necessity, and I will soon be allowed to reap the benefits of my perseverance. And while to many this would be exciting, I find myself desperately confused and stressed. I have to keep asking myself - what’s next? I’ve had a tentative plan that I’ve used for motivation to get me to this point, but is that the right plan? Am I selling myself short and taking an easy route? I&#82...

Saturday, March 22, 2014. I'll bet you didn't know that chicks like to go 4-wheelin'. I brought a chick inside to cheer Tobers up, who has a fever today. Whippersnapper set this little cutie chick on their toy 4-wheeler and it promptly fell asleep! I woke it up when I was taking pictures. She is very pretty with her wings feathering out! She sat there for the longest time. It was pretty cute, and the boys got a giggle out of it too.:). Posted by The Summerfields. Links to this post. Monday, March 17, 2014.

Thoughts From Kathy

My wish is that some of my comments will spark a rememberance for you. I would love to hear your stories also. Whether you be a grandma or mom I know your children are your greatest treasures also! Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Tell It Like It Is. Sunday evening Mackinsie and I were making plans for Thursday. At some point I said that I would put on my "thinking cap" about that. She responded, "Grandma, I don't think that you have a thinking cap anymore". LOVE IT! I need to record this story:. My lip is real...

Just a thought

Monday, March 11, 2013. Are we like Jonah? And made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the plant. But at dawn the next day God provided a worm, which chewed the plant so that it withered. When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah’s head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die,. And said, “It would be better for me to die than to live.”. And should I not have concern. For the great city of Nineveh,.

Thoughts from kent drive. Thursday, February 12, 2015. This blog really isn't meant to be some sort of recap of material you can find on The Atlantic, but I found yet another video on their site that was interesting. Wish I had more time to form and articulate my thoughts on this. But if I tried to make every post perfect and a complete overview of all my thoughts on each subject then my posting would be as frequent as it has been the past few years. But attacks have happened in southern California before.
