Thoughts from the Basement: June 2008

http://thoughtsfromthebasement.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Thoughts from the Basement. Sunday, June 29, 2008. We rarely have the opportunity to go to the movies, and we were so glad we went to see "The Fall" this past Sunday. We hadn't heard much about it until we read what was playing at Amherst Cinema. But we watched the trailer and decided to give it a try. This was one of the most visually beautiful movies I have ever seen. The scenery and the costumes were unbelievable! Friday, June 20, 2008. Sunday, June 15, 2008. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

ThoughtsFromThe... | The World As I See It

The World As I See It. Do It For The Youth! Adolescence is the pivotal period between childhood and adulthood. It is the time when young people need to acquire the attitudes, competencies, values, and social skills that will carry them forward to successful adulthood. It is also the time when they need to avoid choices and behaviours that will limit their future potential. Avenues for young people to access and influence government mostly consisting of formal structures such as youth councils only appeal...

Thoughts From The Bleachers

Thoughts From The Bleachers. Sunday, August 23, 2009. Fave 5: Small Forwards. The small forward is easily the most versatile player in basketball. Small forwards can have the agility and athleticism of a guard or the power and touch of a big man. They are so fun to watch because of their ability to beat the opposing defenders in many ways. Small forwards can torch a defense from behind the arc or use a pump fake to blow by a defender and throw down a ferocious dunk. English's game epitomizes the word smo...

Thoughts from the Booktruck. A librarian's wandering wonderings. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Our life (and death) isn't about us. August 15, 2011. The verse for today is Romans 14:8. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. But according to Romans 14:8, if we get the opportunity to live another day, that means our purpose for that day is to honor God. Ian means. We follow Christ. We live for. Being...

One of the more irritating tactics of evolutionary apologists is their habit of hand-waving. An example of this is when people express doubts about the ability of random mutations to produce the features we see in organisms. To give an analogy, one person rolls a 20 sided dice (D20). This is the survival criteria. ...Or be...
