The Smiths Abroad

Friday, May 9, 2014. But we are also happy to be going home. We are looking forward to spending more time with our families. We are excited to put together our first home. We are hopeful for the future. We are so glad for all the memories we will take with us. Here is a highlight of our last couple of weeks:. We moved out of our apartment. And into a hotel! We had a going away picnic,. What a bunch of goofs. And said some hard goodbyes. But now it's time to go, we'll see you again someday.

Friday, January 25, 2013. Back to Reality: Recap of the holidays. One NYE Will's parents arrived for a 2 week visit. NYE was spent at a beach with champagne and a sausage sizzle. I won't go into all the details of their whole trip, but we took them to beaches, mountains, lakes and even skydiving! Some pictures from their trip will be at the bottom of he post. It was great having visitors and we can't wait for more, hint hint. Picture from Jack and Maria's trip:. NYE at St. Heliers. View over Lake Rotorua.

The Smiths Abroad: November 2012

http://thoughtsfromthesmiths.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 25, 2012. Giving Thanks in New Zealand. This past weekend we celebrated Thanksgiving in New Zealand. My actual Thanksgiving meal was a protein smoothie so I was happy to have some real food once the weekend came. We were lucky enough to have not just one American Thanksgiving, but 2! I was over-stuffed and over-tired after dinner so it was a success! It was a great time meeting more Americans and Kiwis as well, (including a fellow American PwC wife who is a speechie)! We have a lot to be...

The Smiths Abroad: July 2013

http://thoughtsfromthesmiths.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 23, 2013. Again, I'm behind with the blogging. Blame the nice weather and good friends for my being busy on my days off an not having time to sit in front of a computer! A few weeks ago we had an intern from Pwc US come to visit us. It's part of a new program they are doing to help keep good recruits engaged with Pwc. Will was approached about being a host a few months ago and after seeing our friends Drew and Katie have an intern in March, we knew it was a sweet deal! We "grilled" sausages...

Monday, May 20, 2013. Tally's Sweet 16 x 3 / 2 4. On Friday I got to celebrate my second Kiwi birthday! Some of you may remember my post about my birthday last year where I had a pity party because we had just gotten here, no friends and everything was going wrong that day. This year is the exact same, but 100% opposite! Teaching the Kiwis how to play catch phrase. The boys playing poker. Lots of yummy American food! Rachel from our home group and her baby #2! Jessica and Melissa with the birthday girl :).

Thoughts From the Shitter

Thoughts From the Shitter. I just wanna know where da gold at. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. But I'm Tim Duncan! Sorry San Antonio, but the Spares are going home in the first round for the first time in 9 years. Mavs. Won convincingly in 5 games to face either Denver or New Orleans in the next round. Dallas showed they are the better team, though I wonder. How this series plays out If Manu. One thing I noticed about this Mavs. Team is that while we all thought that the Mavs. And even Ryan Hollins. Makes this ...

Thoughts from the side of the hill

Thoughts from the side of the hill. Thursday, September 22, 2011. The days of brittle spring have come down to these:. The days of light and grass and fallen flowers. Leaves unfurling and polished in the sun. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Tour de Fleece 2011. To spin for at least 15 minutes every day. To start spinning the fleece that I started prepping way back in January here. With some silk fibre that I have in the stash. I've been doing a lot of spinning lately - I think I've spun around 8 skeins of yarn i...

Thoughts from the Sin Bin

Thoughts from the Sin Bin. Saturday, May 1, 2010. Hammers Score 5 Goals in third to Overcome 4-1 Deficit. Lake Placid, NY. I’m not even sure where to begin. When I think of last night’s game, the only thing that is popping into my head is “HOLY SHIT.”. Hammers – 1. Poison – 1. Next, Hammers defenseman and resident bone-cracker, Joe Valeriotte, slid a crisp pass to my tape through the neutral zone and I quickly scurried into the zone and deposited my second goal of the game to knot it all up at four apiec...

Thoughts from the Southland

Thoughts from the Southland. Tuesday, January 18, 2011. College Football season is over. I can't believe Auburn fans didn't deck themselves out in full on camo for the National Championship game against Oregon. You should never waste a perfectly good opportunity such as this to wear camo and affirm to others that you're going duck hunting. Once in a lifetime chance.Great opportunity cometh, great opportunity passes. Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Ressurrection is where we are and what we need. Ressurrectio...

I lost myself,. For each to find. You are the barriers in my mind. Vanity you pull me back,. Back, back, into your deepest trap,. No words of which can save me now,. Thoughts from the Stage

Thoughts from the Stage. Saturday, April 30, 2011. The Royal Wedding of William and Kate! Yesterday I was thrilled to have the opportunity to attend the royal wedding! I woke at 6am, feeling about two days late in getting a spot in the action since thousands had been camping out to claim their places. But somehow I managed to find a spot along the procession route that gave me the best view I could have imagined! That much history is hard to fathom and I felt a little taste of it. But by the far the most...

Thoughts from the Stands

Thoughts from the Stands. Focusing on a variety of sports from the perspective of a fan and writer. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. My own thoughts on the treatment of female sports reporters. It was shocking enough to read about the reasons behind last week's resignation of the University of Minnesota Athletic Director Norwood Teague. But the story went to a whole new level. When news broke Sunday night that Teague had sexually harassed Star Tribune U of M men's basketball beat reporter Amelia Rayno. I get th...
