Email sent to my U.S. family on January 17, 2013:. It's weird that I've been here so long, and sometimes I feel like I am just getting in on how things really go. If I wasn’t such a horrible teacher or have any of you at home, I might have actually considered a 3rd year just to continue figuring out life here. Luckily, thos...My family s...

The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps. What is my village like? I had asked some of the PC Indo 1 guys what most surprised them when they came to Indonesia, and I think Noel responded that she was really surprised how big and dense a village can be. Here are some pics of my village:. Here are some pics from my PST village:. Kids chasing me on the street behind my house. Stopping for a pic. My fav posse at our English camp.

This is a popular question received from my devoted followers (Trish and my sister). Upon entering my new home at permanent site, I was disappointed to find a western-style toilet and a shower as I was really growing to love the one-stop shopping. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps. What food am I eating? We all know that fried = delicious. That pretty much sums it up and, hopefully, will explain why I will be 50 lbs heavier when I return home. My host mom generally cooks for all of the meals early in the morning, and then we eat that for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We keep the food on the counter under a plastic cover like this:. I never thought I could enjo...

Brianna: "Congrats on finishing the year! How does it feel? Me: "Sort of like failure.". I had discussions back in pre-service training about what it would feel like when we finished service. Would it feel like we helped at all? I certainly did not come with any naive expectations of changing the world, but I. Surprised now to fee...

The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps. School is definitely different in Indonesia. Students also go to school Monday through Saturday. At my school, classes start roughly at 7am and go until 1:30pm. Fridays are shorter days ending at around 11:15 to allow the men to go to the mosque. Also, the schedules are crazy. I just counted how many teachers the 10. This is one semester of LKS, or workbooks for one student. Checkou...

The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps. As things wind down and in hopes of savoring my remaining time, I've been trying to prepare myself for what I will miss after 2 years here. I also found it helpful to document those things I currently. Believe it will not be sad to leave behind. Time will tell, however, if even those become fond memories down the line. Or will eventually grow into the things I miss). The way student...
