Thoughts from the Fall Term | Thoughts Interrupted

ME (in a nutshell). Beauty in the mundane. Laquo; Wisdom From the Sea. Thoughts from the Fall Term. January 10, 2011 by caristone. We’ve been on the homeschooling path for nearly five months now. We took our winter break last week and are back at it. I intended to write my first term summary last week. Instead I spent my best blogging hours coughing. So now, in no particular order, here are my thoughts for this evening. Really, really great! Rapidly set me straight on this one. 4 I have a new love for.

ME (in a nutshell). Beauty in the mundane. Laquo; Field Trip Hangover. January 17, 2011 by caristone. 8220;Most good memoirs turn out not to be about the memoirist at all. But always, the reader becomes a stand-in for the I, and the life of the I becomes the life of the reader, so no matter who is speaking, the successful true story is always the reader’s story on some level.”. 8211; Bill Roorbach,. ME (in a nutshell). Beauty in the mundane. Laquo; Thoughts from the Fall Term. January 14, 2011 by caristone. This slideshow requires JavaScript. We had a great time at the LA Zoo yesterday with Nana; we spent the better part of four hours exploring the grounds and meeting all sorts of interesting creatures. Although you wouldn’t know it from my pictures, we did see animals far more exotic (although not necessarily cuter) than meerkats and prairie dogs. While I would love to believe that my child would b...

Friday, December 23, 2011. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. You would think of the Herdsmans as very naughty kids and your parents really nice, but when you come to think of it, we all sin.". I think the Herdsmans should be able to participate. They could all get Jesus in their hearts from learning the Christmas story. They could receive a Bible and come to church every Sunday.". This was Hannah's response to the first two chapters of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Thank you Blackbird and Company.
Thoughts Interrupted: Learning to Breathe
http://www.thoughtsinterrupted.net/2012/05/learning-to-breathe.html
Thursday, May 17, 2012. I have followed Heather's blog. For several years now. She remains a favorite of mine because her content is beautifully succinct and full of depth all at once. This coming Monday her 30 Day Vegan course will begin. At first I thought the timing for my participation was all wrong. We're weeks away from wrapping up Second Grade. The littlest has decided to exit her second year of life with a bang (or rather a piercing scream). One of my very favorite people on the planet. I have li...
Thoughts Interrupted: Nightstand

Sunday, April 29, 2012. As best as I can tell, I've managed to catch my virtual breath. I wasn't sure whether or not I'd ever come back to Thoughts Interrupted. In the end I felt as though I still had things to say. The time away was nice - to stop viewing life's intricacies and moments as potential fodder for this space. To breathe. To reflect and to remember the value as well as the snags of this increasingly complex realm. Surprised by Oxford: A Memoir. In our schoolhouse I tend toward order, structur...
Thoughts Interrupted: We'll Call it Lent
http://www.thoughtsinterrupted.net/2012/02/well-call-it-lent.html
Saturday, February 25, 2012. We'll Call it Lent. I've been dancing an awkward dance with this blog of mine. I love this space and think of it often. I have partial posts scribbled down on notebook paper and others tucked away in my mind (not likely to resurface in tact). Still others flit about - bits and pieces ruminating in Word docs filed away for another day. And so, mid-month I mentally crafted a post slating February as The New January. But I never published it. And the ideas kept coming. For slump...

Friday, October 28, 2011. Operation Christmas Child - Trash or Treasure? While we're still making the most of autumn's harvest in these parts I'm going to diverge for a moment in the name of a good discussion. Each fall kids and adults across the country begin pulling out shoe boxes and filling them with toys and essentials to send to children less fortunate than themselves through Operation Christmas Child. Amount of money possible to fill their OCC boxes. Stems from true financial hardship. More of...
Simply Savvy Mom: Simply Saving Money on Your Taxes
http://simplysavvymom.blogspot.com/2010/01/simply-saving-money-on-your-taxes.html
Saturday, January 9, 2010. Simply Saving Money on Your Taxes. Since it's the start of tax season, I'm going to start off with a tax preparation tip. You can use this whether you have someone prepare your taxes or do them yourself with tax software (I use TurboTax). For years I donated used goods to various charities and never itemized or placed a value on them to report on my taxes. I figured it would be too time consuming and wouldn't really add up to that much. I was SO wrong! When you are ready to do ...
Thoughts Interrupted: A Simple Gesture
http://www.thoughtsinterrupted.net/2012/06/simple-gesture.html
Saturday, June 2, 2012. I attended a conference down south this past weekend. The plan was to share a room with some friends the first night and then have a night on my own. Instead, I had to forgo the first half of the plan in order to take Hannah to urgent care. Award and changed course. Prior to my girls' arrival I simply had no idea just how much two small little lives would change my own. The conference itself was great. I gleaned new and refreshingly candid insights from Susan Wise Bauer. But at th...

Sunday, January 29, 2012. With the month quickly drawing to a close I've found myself to be embarrassingly quiet on this blog of mine. I could list lots of reasons - couldn't we all. Instead I am devoting this post to a small collection of things I like, love or simply found to enhance this January. I hope you find a thing or two that you might enjoy as well. My relationship with kale has taken a turn for the better. Thanks to Heidi and this recipe. I've had Chia Seeds. I've since tweaked the original a ...

Asaph did and recorded his thoughts in Psalm 73. It overwhelmed him. Ps. 73:2-3 "But I almost stopped believing; I had almost lost my faith because I was jealous of proud people. Thoughts in the Cloud - a blog about the internet
Thoughts in the Cloud. A blog about the internet. Laquo; Movable Type. November 26th, 2012 by Evan McGoff. I tested the Kindle Fire HD, the Nexus 7 and iPad Mini for a few days. Here’s take on the iPad Mini after using the other two:. Let me first acknowledge that I have a personal bias in comparing these tablets. But I’m also trying my best to be objective. Now, given my bias, I think it makes sense to devote more time to comparing the Mini to the full sized iPad—for an Apples to Apples comparison.

My Two Cents | on World, Wealth and Beings
On World, Wealth and Beings. Technique is the ultimate expression of strength in weightlifting. Majority of my life before Weightlifting was confusing, a bit lost and just BORED! I had never really sucked at anything, every time i tried or cared about something i excelled at it and other times i simply didn’t care. Then i fell into this magical sport with so much complexity and depth. I started reading and learning about everything mobility and i have been injury/ pain free for almost 1.5 years. Recovery...
