POSSIBILITIES, etc.!: March 2010
http://fairy-crafts.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Wildflowers in Silk Ribbon. It's strange what falls out of old files when I'm looking for something I did years and years ago. This scan of a photograph dates back about 12 years to when I was busy "interpreting" nature with silk ribbon embroidery. I had no idea, and I'm a native, until I started mixing paint, using real flowers to get the color right. Incredible! They look so blue en masse out in the field. Links to this post. Sunday, March 28, 2010. A Jeweled Palm for the Day.

POSSIBILITIES, etc.!: April 2010
http://fairy-crafts.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 29, 2010. ANG San Antonio 2011. The Yarn Barn has been under new ownership for the last two years, after a wonderful 35 years with my friend Bobbi Ravicz running the show. I was amused, and told this lady that Bobbi and I started out this way. Too many times the guides are not really up to standard, with entirely too many threads used, and too many complicated textured stitches within a very small space. This makes an eye shattering mess instead of a pleasing finished product - and th...

POSSIBILITIES, etc.!: Decorating the Topiary (with Kreinik)
http://fairy-crafts.blogspot.com/2011/02/decorating-topiary-with-kreinik.html
Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Decorating the Topiary (with Kreinik). Looking back on the blog posts here, I see that I've been playing with this thing since December 24! I'm still playing, but it's beginning to be interesting now. An experiment, it is - but I'm learning the variables of working with the Kreinik on it as I embellish. Be sure to go to Freebies, etc. To see the new metallic "Hot Wire" that Kreinik now has - a new thing. I found it just when I needed it for embellishment trials here. I reali...

POSSIBILITIES, etc.!: Painting Monet - More Buried Treasure
http://fairy-crafts.blogspot.com/2011/02/painting-monet-more-buried-treasure.html
Wednesday, February 02, 2011. Painting Monet - More Buried Treasure. I found more photographs while dumping out ancient files - these were dated 1996, so were taken long before I had either a digital camera or a computer. There are even shadows at the top right of this one, as I had taken it outdoors for good light. The lilies and their pads appear very colorful, but if you look at the close-up, you can see that there are actually very few colors, and those are painted simply for easy stitching. The wate...

POSSIBILITIES, etc.!: January 2011

Monday, January 31, 2011. Learning/Practicing/Creating Needlepoint on Simple Shapes. I'm still working on the conical topiary trees, and also on the Bavarian lace - but as a lot of background is required, and both pieces are green, I have to take a break. As a designer of painted canvas for so many years, I do know why fine HP Canvases are very expensive - but people need to know that they can do their own simpler small pieces if they are shown how. To buy and download yourself) sent me spinning off in y...

POSSIBILITIES, etc.!: Festival of Needles
http://fairy-crafts.blogspot.com/2011/02/festival-of-needles.html
Wednesday, February 09, 2011. This is something I haven't participated in, myself, but looking at PINTANGLE. This morning, I saw that Sharon B. has a great post on it, and includes a link to a Stitchin' Fingers site by Carole Anne about it that she recommends highly. Do go see! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Having designed painted canvas, stitched, taught, and written for and about needlepoint for 40 years this fall, it's time for me to share and give it away, and I take joy in doing it!
