Threads from Karen

Friday, August 01, 2014. Wednesday, June 11, 2014. I took my completed quilt in the yard to get some photos. This is a larger quilt than I normally do so I didn't have anywhere to hang it. As I was posing it in various places Milo followed and supervised. This spot had good light but I lost the top corner, it's laying over a bush. This may be the money shot for now. I am standing on higher ground looking down. Sunday, January 05, 2014. The Old and the New. So this is what the back looks like. This is the...

Threads from Karen: Photo of the Week

http://threadsfromkaren.blogspot.com/2013/09/photo-of-week.html

Saturday, September 14, 2013. Photo of the Week. The Garden Spot in Bellingham has been having a weekly photo contest on their Facebook page. I've entered twice, and won twice because I've been the only entrant that week. The best part is how they describe my picture and my garden. September 13, 2013: We enjoyed this photo because it captured the connection to the natural world that gardening gives all of us. We were pretty impressed with the lush perennials and ferns in the background as well!

Threads from Karen: Quilt Retreats

http://threadsfromkaren.blogspot.com/2013/10/quilt-retreats.html

Saturday, October 19, 2013. I've been quite the spoiled girl, attending 2 quilt retreats in a month. But I did get a lot of sewing done. These first 2 pictures were taken at the Willow Pond retreat by Cindy. She documented a lot of the group's fun on Facebook. The quilt top above is suppose to be my Bonnie's Team donation, but I'm running a bit behind on getting it quilted. Several ladies admiring Val's quilt, but that's me in the background at my machine. Threads from Karen: Flower Wrap Up

http://threadsfromkaren.blogspot.com/2013/09/flower-wrap-up.html

Saturday, September 21, 2013. Here are more flower pictures, most have been posted on Facebook, but I thought I'd put them together here. Last year I still had Dahlia's blooming in November, so this may not be my last flower post this year. September Morn (2012 purchase) Late bloomer that year, early bloomer this year. Just Married (2012 purchase). Camano Ariel (2012 purchase). Japanese anemone, this is a perennial that I've had in my yard for many years. Pandora Elegance (2011 purchase).

Franciful Fibers: Gender Non-conforming

http://francifulfibers.blogspot.com/2013/11/gender-non-conforming.html

A place to share with other fiberart enthusiasts. Wednesday, November 13, 2013. I was asked to participate in the Sunday service on Sexuality at my Unitarian Fellowship because I am the parent of a young adult who identifies as gender non-conforming or gender queer. As I was writing my story, I was inspired to make this quilt: "Are You a Boy or a Girl? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I am a part-time fiber artist who tends towards a minimalist style. Franciful Fibers: December 2010

http://francifulfibers.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

A place to share with other fiberart enthusiasts. Monday, December 20, 2010. Messenger bag learning curve. I wasn't happy with my simple D ring one inch wide strap on my black lizard messenger bag. A tail of strap was left hanging that didn't look good at all. So I examined some bags and realized I needed a "thingy" I eventually learned was called a triglide! I think my bag is much nicer now. Triglide and rectangle ring wider strap. Sunday, December 5, 2010. Slideshow of Artquilt bags. The bags were well...

Franciful Fibers: September 2012

http://francifulfibers.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

A place to share with other fiberart enthusiasts. Saturday, September 8, 2012. My non-traditional twin baby quilts done! The twin baby quilts are in their mothers' hands waiting for Twin A and Twin B to arrive. This pattern is called Baby Babushka and was created by Carrie Unick of Ferndale, WA. You can find it at Calicocountry.com in Lynden, WA. I made them "international" by using fabrics from USA, Africa, Australia, Indonesia, South/Central America, and Japan. These pics are before.

Franciful Fibers: October 2013

http://francifulfibers.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

A place to share with other fiberart enthusiasts. Friday, October 11, 2013. Frank Llyod Wright inspired. I made this quilt for my brother-in-law who is an architect. He and I both like FLW, so I looked in a small book I have about Frank and found a fireplace he designed. This is basically his design with some added color. I really enjoyed using my collection of off white textured fabric. It is only a two layered quilt - a summer weight -. Hence the quilting is not as striking. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://francifulfibers.blogspot.com/2014/02/quilters-final-quilt.html

A place to share with other fiberart enthusiasts. Wednesday, February 26, 2014. I asked the director, Mish Kriz, if she would like a bed quilt made out of some of the blocks in this large set piece. Yes! Was the answer. I thought it would be fun.Ha! Well, it was fun, but also a lot of work simply because of the size of it. I machine pieced and machine quilted it on my home machine.doing one area at a time and mostly free-motion quilting. Here is the front and back. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Threads From My Sewing Room. Wednesday, 25 March 2015. Blue Eyes' and Blue Skirts. Well, Turquoise and Pink skirts actually if we're going to get specific, but that seemed far less punchy as a title! When Jazz and I met up to discuss the skirt, the first brief was that the skirt had to be big. I don't mean matronly, or fit for a giant, I mean.triangular!
