Threads on the floor: September 2014

http://www.threadsonthefloor.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 28, 2014. This was a quicker than I thought project that made a huge difference. My biggest concern was how to tackle the industrial snaps that were on the arm cushions, and on the wooden arms of the glider. Ah ha, I just cut out a button hole, or really a "snap hole", and pushed the original snap through the new cover and snapped them onto the chair frame. Easy. Thanks for reading,. Links to this post. Friday, September 19, 2014. Some McTavishing in the solid burgundy areas,. I tried t...

Threads on the floor: Andrea's first quilt

http://www.threadsonthefloor.blogspot.com/2015/06/andreas-first-quilt.html

Monday, June 8, 2015. This was the first quilt I quilted for Andrea, and I think she told me it was her first quilt she made. This quilt was here in my studio a long time ago, and I'm not sure why I never blogged about it before. Anyway, Andrea is an amazing piecer, quilter and color coordinator. Here is her quilt, and I don't remember what she named it. I named it Amazing. This quilt was big, and Andrea's original design,. I always like a "before quilting" shot. Dora, the Quilter. Threads on the floor: Urban Nine Patch.....Finished

http://www.threadsonthefloor.blogspot.com/2012/04/curved-nine-patchfinished.html

Sunday, April 1, 2012. Urban Nine Patch.Finished. The quilt is 35 blocks, but I am a dork with my camera and didn't get the whole quilt in the picture. You get the idea though. I made it large enough to go on a twin bed in my sewing room. The back is a solid grey, and I love it too. Again, I am not very good at the photo part of this, but hey, I can only get better right? So here's to you Jenny. It is finally finished. Thanks for your great ruler. April 1, 2012 at 3:20 PM. This turned out so cute! What a...

New Reds | abrandiecreation

https://abrandiecreation.wordpress.com/2015/07/28/new-reds

July 28, 2015. No I didn’t buy any red fabrics. I used some stash fabris to start my new project, tulips. I’ve utilized most of my scraps and had to supplement stash fabrics. Again I’ve used a dot fabric as my background. You can never have too many dots! Side two of my strawberries has been completed. After remeasuring I found it only needed one row of geese. I like that it’s not balanced because the other side isn’t either. Have a Wonderful day, Brandie. One thought on “ New Reds. Notify me of new comm...

Strawberry Fields Finished | abrandiecreation

https://abrandiecreation.wordpress.com/2015/07/30/strawberry-fields-finished

July 30, 2015. July 30, 2015. Yesterday morning I received a call from my LQS, my batting had arrived. I braved the blistering heat to go retrieve this most needed item. My roll of batting and I arrived home after a quick purchase of more dots (more about these beauties later). Quick as a flash I had all the packaging removed and the batting between my two quilts. Super quickly quilted straighted lines. Say that three times fast! Straight lines and I will be seeing more of each other! Leave a Reply Cance...

February 2, 2016. February 2, 2016. What have I really been doing? Well as we discussed I’m working on a pattern. I have finished it but now the hard part and that’s the part where I put myself out there and see if someone wants to buy it. Yup, just that silly part. It’s also that time of year when the local girls all want to be in our traditional festival that celebrates our town discovering a 50 pound gold nugget back in the 1850’s. What do we call this celebration? Why Gold Nugget Days of course.

Something Fun and New. November 11, 2015. Now that our local quilt show is over, I can relax and play. I needed something fun instead of fancy. First thing I did was take out my box of solids. This box isn’t huge but it’s loaded with solid fabrics of every color. Some are leftovers from my mini dresden, a new bundle of jewel tones and the rest were given to me by a good friend! I have plans to use more of these solids in another project after I finish this one. Surprising myself I bought 2 Kaffe Fasset c...

Tippy Tulips | abrandiecreation

https://abrandiecreation.wordpress.com/2015/08/11/tippy-tulips

August 11, 2015. After a stressful week I finally got to sit down at my sewing machine and try to work through my stress. It helped a bit but I’m back in the thick of it again, it was a short lived fix. But enough about that, lets talk tulips. It’s a finish! I actually like the back of the quilt better than the front. I guess I’m not ready for all that color. I showed my unfinished tops at my guild meeting and our quilt show layout boss asked me to please put one of my reversible quilts in the show. ...

Hip to be Cubed. August 12, 2015. August 12, 2015. Yay, I have another almost finished quilt top! Yesterday I said I was going to get this UFO out and start working on it. I discovered that it was mostly cut out so I thought it would take me a couple of days but I’m more than thrilled with my progress. November 2014 Sandy Klop from American Jane came to our guild. Her class offered 5 different patterns but this is the pattern I picked. I almost gave up making this quilt, the only thing holding me back wa...

Side One | abrandiecreation

https://abrandiecreation.wordpress.com/2015/07/27/side-one-2

July 27, 2015. July 27, 2015. The strawberries are finished! I finally finished all 25 of them! Not only are the strawberries done, that red scrap box is more or less empty too. That’s a real cause for celebration! One problem, a row is out of sync but I DON’T care! I’m done with this quilt! Side two has also begun. The neutral box came out and I used up prexisting 2 1/2 inch squares, made more and made more space in that box. I actual had to dive into the red stash to give my geese more variety. Fill in...

Tulips | abrandiecreation

https://abrandiecreation.wordpress.com/2015/08/04/tulips

August 4, 2015. The scrappy tulips are finally done and ready to sew into rows. Next up are the rows of blocks that separte the tulips. I think these blocks look like wedding cakes. So much so that I arranged them as stacked cakes when they are suppose to be bottom to bottom, top to top. Why is it that a cat can be taking a nap but as soon as fabric touches the floor, they show up as a herd? Just use your imagination to see the blocks because I can not get Elliott to move. I can’t wait! The Little Red Hen.

Rainbow Finish | abrandiecreation

https://abrandiecreation.wordpress.com/2015/07/31/rainbow-finish

July 31, 2015. I’m thrilled to have another finish and another quilt stacked and ready to gift! I especially love that this is entirely made from scraps. You would think with a quilt this big (53 x 70) those scrap boxes would be emptier but alas not all are. Again it is just straight line quilting with the angle of the black strip. This quilt took a bit longer than the last, seeing as how it’s bigger. There was also time to work on my tulip stems. These stems are time consuming! July 31, 2015 at 4:20 pm.

My personal journal of all things crafty. I’m not a professional and most of what I know I learned by doing. I’m always happiest with a creative project or with making a fabric mess. My topics are usually quilts or sewing projects, with home improvements and animal posts thrown in. Maybe I can be described as a animal lover who quilts. I am a Mother of 2 grown children (one of each) and the keeper of many furry animals. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

A new tablet cover.for me. I've made a couple of these tablet covers and this one.I hope .is mine. I picked out a few HB selections a couple of weeks ago. Happy Mail Arrived! And I love them but this has always been one of my favorites. Lollipop. From the Freshcut Collection. A nice little pocket for my stylus but I forgot to get it for the pics. That will come in handy too! And A scrunchy elastic loop closure because it was a good way to hide the elastic and super easy to sew. Categories bags and pouches.

My Grey and Black Period. January 31, 2015. Over the past few months I’ve made a few small things, and now that I’ve pulled them together I see they all have grey or black or both. Boot cuffs, 3 inches high. First I made these grey boot cuffs. They are a double strand of Cascade 220 wool in 2×2 ribbing. The relative height of the boot, left; my foot in the boot “au naturel”, centre; foot, boot, and cuff, all together, right. Man About Town flannel by Deborah Edwards. Posted an excellent tutorial.
