A tour of the compound. | Three Girl Pile-Up
https://threegirlpileup.wordpress.com/2011/07/14/a-tour-of-the-compound
8230;adventures of our homeschooling family. A tour of the compound. As we were preparing for our annual trek to New York, several friends asked me about the place that we stay here. I realized that most of my friends and family don’t have much of a picture of this place, so I thought I’d give a little photo tour. Inside the cabin, there is a tiny but well-equipped kitchen:. I’m sorry that when I took these pictures, I didn’t get a picture of one of my favorite details in the kitchen: left ov...That̵...

8230;adventures of our homeschooling family. The first tomato, and the last for awhile. Okay, technically not the first tomato. Before I plucked this one, we’d had a few sweet-like-candy sungolds. But this was the first full-size ripe tomato. And cherries. Later in the month, we should be able to get some beautiful, blushy New York apricots. July 8, 2011. One Comment to “The first tomato, and the last for awhile.”. July 9, 2011 at 1:25 pm. And there’s always fried green tomaters! Enter your comment here.

8230;adventures of our homeschooling family. An impulse buy pays off. Okay, I admit it. I’m a bit of a sucker for an enticing craft kit. Which is maybe a little strange, given my love of free-form, open-ended crafting. There’s just something about having a package that has all the parts that you need to make something fun–no gathering required. No thinking required! With any luck, it’s instant fun in a box. Squirt bottles of dye out on the grass (instead of anywhere inside the house) makes for a much mor...
The clothesline. | Three Girl Pile-Up
https://threegirlpileup.wordpress.com/2011/07/24/the-clothesline
8230;adventures of our homeschooling family. Of all the things I love here in New York, the clothesline is one of my favorites. It is long and sturdy and perfectly place to catch bright sun and drying breezes. Situated between the cabin and the bunkhouse, we are often ducking under damp clothes to get from one building to the next. I love seeing clothes strung out on the line, swinging in the wind. Is it going to rain? Should we bring them in now? Life at home will always be busier. For one thing, ma...

Adventures in Homeschooling: January 2010
http://raechelleec.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
A Mom's Tales of the Good and Bad in her Homeschool year. Monday, January 18, 2010. January Homeschool Review (or how I kinda, sorta fell off the Unschool wagon). I realized then that I didn't have very many "tactile" things to show the nice lady at the BOE and prove what my boys had learned. And I panicked. Of worksheets in language arts and math during those 11 days. I felt sheepish because I wasn't purely unschooling anymore, and because I felt as if I was trying to fool the BOE. What a Crazy Month.

A Mom's Tales of the Good and Bad in her Homeschool year. Saturday, April 2, 2011. We've Hit the Wall. Our school year using Oak Meadow has been great. We've stayed on track through remodeling and moving, the kids like the curriculum, and they have learned things that I would not have thought to teach them. They were doing great, and there was no whining when I called "time for homeschool.". By Wednesday I knew it- they had hit a wall. So as we progressed through the stuff I had planned for Thursday and ...
